In our family, decorating the house for the holidays is almost as much of a tradition as hanging stockings and turkey dinner. Just dragging out the boxes of lights and Christmas yard decorations
gets everyone excited, and everyone gets involved. Even the youngest of the troops has jobs to do like untangling strings of lights or being a "burned out bulb" detective.

Then we wait until dark to head back outside once again to check the effects of our handiwork. Everyone assembles on the walk in front of the house waiting in anticipation for the switch to be flipped. When the lights come on we have a big oooh and ahhh moment and admire our holiday house.

Neighbors always look forward to the day when our house lights up the street, and it seems to kick off the holiday season for everyone.
