In The Computer industry, there is a variety of different choices. And many times, by not understanding the computer spec's, you may buy a desktop or laptop, you've never wanted to get. Thats why one of the most important things before buying or building, you must understand what each thing does/functions. In this section of the guide i will teach you readers, how the different parts function/work and what there part in the computer is.

The first thing, when buying any computer, or building one. you should look at the CPU (Computer Processing Unit). If Building a computer, a CPU determines what motherboard you will buy, and other essential parts. The CPU is basically the brain of the computer, everything you do from sending a email or playing Crysis 2, will eventually go through the CPU, Therefore, there is two parts the CPU works in, the Internal, and External. The Internal, works within the central processor, Determining how fast you get your task done. The external performance refers to the other computer components. I will list some good CPU's further down.

The Motherboard is a flat, rectangle piece which is a circuit board which everything connects to. The motherboard contains a socket which defines the Central processing Unit. It Contains a BIOS chip which controls alot of the basic functions of the computer.

RAM is a computer data storage, that allows the stored data to be accessed in any order in a constant time. RAM is often associated with volatile types of memory, its storage memory is lost if the power is removed. Many other types of non-volatile memory are RAM as well, including most types of ROM and a type of flash memory.

HDD basicaly contains all the storage you obtain through downloading. The HDD is the most important part in a computer, for if your hardrive is wiped out or removed you lose all your data. Whenever purchasing a HDD it is alway important to have at least one TB of storage space.

The Computer case is what basically holds everything together. it is often very important in when building a computer, or even buying a computer to have a nice computer case. for starters, if you have a nice computer case, rather then a cheap one, you wont hear us much noise... another thing is that to thick cases do not allow air to get to the CPU and other parts such as video cards, which could lead to overheating issues.

The video card is one of the less most expensive things you need in a computer if you are not interested in playing games. The video card plays a good role in a bunch of stuff in a computer, but without a good computer card, you will not be able to access some of the new gaming arrival's.

Since now you know how the computer functions, lets go into greater detail about purchasing a brand new laptop. One of the first things you must know is what type of computer you want (gaming computer, work computer, etc). The second thing you must know is what type of brand you want to get. There is many brands such as Dell, Sony, Acer, Asus, Panasonic, Compaq, Toshiba, and Samsung. All of these Brands have very well products but contain many Pro's and Many Con's.

Sony Laptops are well recognized and appreciated for there well Performance, entertainment, and style. The Vaio is known for its flexibility and multitasking abilities. With this laptop you can easily play different types of games, list to various music, and enjoy the internet all at once. i personally have always found a good experience with Sony products and there laptops no different. This may be a well choice for more of the casual internet surfers but not for hardcore gamers or busy work spokesmen, unless you want to customize it.

Dell is one of the most popular to the laptop and computer industry to date. Dell sells Pavilians and Alienware's very popular, in fact dell has many other great laptops that i wish i could discuss but not. Pavilians are a very great simple computer to get the job done. Alienware's on the other hand, or suppose to be hardcore gaming laptops. I3, I5, and I7 processors all very great, with top of the line raedeon and Geforce graphics cards (to your choice),11, 14,15,17, and 18 inch laptops with a wide variety of Customization.

Apple does not mainly concern laptop's. but rather concerns Mac. Apple computers are great, dont get me wrong.... but does not support many games and/or applications that are only on windows. Personally, do not get a Apple computer if further interested in purchasing lots of applications.
