Cosplay

Cosplay, short for costume-roleplaying, is when individuals dress up in elaborate costumes and accessories, with a specific character or idea in mind. Cosplaying is not only limited to cartoons and animations, and extends to even J-rock. J-pop and visual kei.

Here, we will be showing the best cosplays around.
So sit back, have a cuppa coffee and relax!
Here we go..........

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Cloud Strife

Just to start off with a character we all are familiar with :)
The perpetually handsome Cloud Strife!
Great cosplay. Don't you just find it amazing when people can create hairstyles that defy gravity?

He is wearing:
Plastic shoulder armour w/ hand-sculpted wolf head/ring, with vinyl straps and silver buckles.
Black sweater vest w/ silver zipper.
Black linen sleeve that can be detatched from the shoulder armour.
Matching black linen side-skirt with vinyl straps and silver buckles

Let's learn Japanese

Handsome - "Hum-sum-mu"
Cloud Strife is very handsome.
Cloud-du Stride-fu wa tot-te-mo hum-sum-mu des.

With cloud comes Tifa..

Lovely Tifa cosplay. One of the best I've seen. The pose is simple stunning and enduring. This signature pose appeared in the Advent Children movie and I'm sure many who see or play Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children knows this.

What makes up a Tifa ultra sexy costume:
Black leather vest
White arms-cut-off midrift-showing t-shirt
A pair of black shorts that stops just above the knees
Black hightops with white toes
Black apron & skirt attachable to shorts
A pair of gloves
Pink ribbon to be tied on left arm

Rikku

Rikku's one of my favourite characters from Final Fantasy X-2. Bright yellow bikinni with sexily alluring mini-skirt. Her hair is painstakingly locked. The slim curved body embodies Rikku perfectly. Standing out in the cold, I wish I could provide some warmth ^.^

The stunning costume :
Yellow Bikini Top with orange detailing and black straps
Green Skirt with Yellow Ties
Yellow Fleece Scarf
Yellow Belt with Pouches
Cream Armwarmers with bows

Full Metal Alchemist

The metal suit just nailed it. The ambience is great too!
It is really important to take note of the details when it comes to cosplaying. In this particular photo, the details of Alphonse's suit are carefully planned. It just looks like the real deal!

Edward was well played too. The sleeping pose is something we always see the real Edward do. I love how they even took note of details for the suitcase (:

Naruto Uzumaki

Photobucket
Simple yet great. The cosplayer really looks like Naruto Uzumaki with the sharp dagger held precariously yet deadly between his lips! Great Pose!!

It's also important to note how the cosplayer chose a less yellowish blonde for the hair instead of the conventionaly bright yellow blonde. Sometimes its not just trying to achieve accurate details by parts but also to look at the whole costume for its feel.

Gaara the sand man (The Desert)

A lot of mascara used to create the effect of the eyes but i believe it turned out really well. I like how the cosplayer used photoshop the enchance the feel of the photo with the really cool background.

Don't you agree you can really feel the fierce aura from his eyes?

Gin Ichimaru

This is absolutely dreamy. The setting's great and everything is in place.
She is wearing a shinigami robe (hakama, inner/outer kimono, sash). I'm pretty sure she has taken considerable effort to dye her hair white and style just exactly like Gin Ichimaru! She is simply gorgeous!
As we can witness, Cosplay is so wonderful that gender does not play a part. A girl can transform into a man and vice versa!

Ulquiorra schiffer

Ulquiorra with the distinctive Cosplay Mask.
Creepily devilish with melancholic eyes to die for!
He got the right face for it with apple-shaped face and sharp chin.
Fantastic Cosplaying!

Just how awesomely skilled is Ulquiorra in Bleach?

He is cool and calculating, swiftly analysing his opponents' skills. The full extent of his combat strength is unknown, but as a member of the elite espada, he is probably exceptionally powerful, more so than a Shinigami (Death God) captain. He also has the ability to show others events that he has witnessed by removing his left eyeball and crushing it. It later grows back. The name of his zanpakutou, the sword that seals away his hollow form, is MurciƩlago which is a Spanish word meaning "bat".

Neliel Tu

Did I mention that facial expression is really important? It doesn't matter if your face is not exactly like the character you are cosplaying (what are the chances you will look like one? =P), but it is important to bring out the character through your expressions ;)

Another important point would be to really take care of wigs. I've seen some pretty bad cosplaying where the wigs were not even properly put on! Taking care of your wig will enhance the feeling of the character and allow you to take gorgeous photos such as this ;)

Let's learn Japanese

Sweet / Cute - "Ka-wa-ee"

I tell u, Neliel Tu is sweet and cute.
Neliel Tu wa ka-wa-ee desu-yo.

The legend of Zelda

Check out those ears... O.O Its wonderful how the cosplayer went into such details like the ears. it looks so real that one would have though the cosplayer is an elf!

When I saw this picture it really brought me back to the time when I was playing Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hour Glass ;)

Sometimes the best cosplays are those that makes people go "Who the hell would have thought of that??"

Be prepared for the next one you are going to see..

OMG!!! WWII Soldier Freezes

My little bro saw this picture and he went "I remember playing this!"
Haha.. talk about the power of absolute reality in cosplaying.
I really wish I could have seen this with my own eyes.

I wonder how long he knelt and freezed there..
A test of superb endurance!

Feel like toppling him over.. *evil thoughts*

Allen Walker

Sometimes the angle of an image matters too! If you are not able to replicate an appropriate background, maybe it would be good to simply take it at an angle or crop it so that the background would not disturb the image. ;)

Byakuran

This picture really made my friend go crazy. As fans of Hitman Reborn, it really makes us go wild when we get to see "real-life" images of our favourite characters, be it villian or hero. This cosplayer is such an accurate potrayal of Byakuran that for a moment I thought he really existed! Or maybe just the possibility of existing ^.^

You can really see the effort being put into the hair. I also appreciate the fact that the face is whitened to give off the pale face that Byakuran has. The costume is also undeniably one of the ost accurate I have seen. Finally the marshmellow just completes the picture!

Belphegor

Belphegor, the crazy prince. Another character from reborn and one of the best Bel cosplays I've seen! Needless to say, the hair is almost flawless. The crown, blades and blood really adds to the feel of the whole picture.

One thing to note: details of weapons are just as important! It would be a great waste when you dressed up really well but carried a crappy looking weapon =X

It may also be a good idea to cosplay characters whose eyes can't be seen at times, since the eyes in the anime world are usually not realistic, especially those with huge eyes that take up half the face!

Ouran High School Host Club

If you have watched this anime, I'm sure you will agree with me how amazing this picture looks. You'd feel as though the senpais have all came to life!

It's greta how they pay attention to details such as the hair style and even the height difference! The roses really adds a nice touch for Tamaki-senpai!

How wonderful it would be if these characters really existed in schools.. *drools*

Vampire Knight

Again, photoshop effects, but it looks great!

The background setting is really a plus for the image. It really brings out the essence of a Vampire world. A reddish setting, showing the thirst for blood. The way the picture is arranged is also beautiful. It looks just like a poster you could find in the covers of the mangas you buy!

xxxholic

I must say this picture is really elaborate. Even though I have never read xxxholic, one look at this picture and I knew where it was from. The female character instantly reminded me of the xxxholic cover I once saw.

Kudos to self-made costumes! Only when you make the costumes yourself will you be able to get exact fits. You can also take care of the details yourself. Most mass-manufacturers can't give the accurate details the fans usually look for.

And don't you find the setting just great? It really makes me want to go over there too! Also, check out her facial expression. You can just sense the evil!

Chii - Chobits

Photobucket
I'm sure many have seen this before. Just beautiful.
And a great idea to not use the conventional blonde hair!

Just surreal.

This is really amazing cosplay.
I love how the individual parts just fit in with the whole feel. The beautiful white hair, whitish skin, lovely wings..
It really helps to bring out the eyes and the tattoos. Doesn't it seem like an angel has just descended from heaven? It's such a beautiful and delicate picture that really makes one go "wow", even for those who are not into cosplay.

And to top it off, the cosplayer is a GUY! I bet u didn't see it!

No offence taken.. Yes I agree with you that the green soldier probably changes his pose to alleviate his "pains". ^_^

Nice collection of cosplayers and some insight on how to make a good one. ^^ I really liked the Rikku, FMA brothers, and green army man toy cosplay. I believe the green soldier changes his pose so he doesn't just kneel there for hours(?).

    And, no, I never suspected the last cosplay to be a trap. Sorry if you find the word offensive. ^^;;
