Best Crafts Using Newspaper

Great Crafts Using Newspaper

One of the easiest craft supplies to be found is the newspaper, and we all know that it's good to recycle.

I've been doing some paper mache projects with the kids at school for a few years now, but I thought it would be fun to look for some new projects. That got me searching the internet for some new and different newspaper crafts.

I wanted some that the kids would enjoy, but also some that would just be fun to make and possibly use as a décor accent. I did not look in vain; I have found some projects that I think you will also enjoy.

In this article I'm going to list the projects that I found, show a picture, and give you the site address of the directions. For the directions to make the flowers above, go to Red Ted Art"s Blog.

Now make all the gift bags you need. They'll be unique and you'll be saving money. The directions for these great gift bags can be found at How About Orange.

Rolled Flowers Wreath

undefined

This wreath is way more beautiful than you would imagine, since it is made with newspaper. I think if you wanted to change the color, you could just give it a few light coats of spray paint. Maybe even a spray of adhesive and then sprinkled with irridescent glitter would look elegant. For the directions, go to Under the Table and Dreaming.

Silhouettes on Newsprint

newspaper-wallhanging

Although this example is done in a Halloween theme, I think with different silhouettes, the art could be a year round piece. See how the project is put together at she wears flowers.

Hats For the Tea Party

This is exactly what I have been looking for. My little granddaughters want to have a dress up tea party and these hats will be perfect. The instructions for how to make them can be found at maya*made.

Spin A Log: Make Your Own Fireplace Logs

a 4.5 (out of 5) star product

Because this article is about recycling newspaper, I thought it would be a good idea to also check out log rollers as a way to recycle. I don't have a fireplace of my own, but I checked out the price and customer satisfaction products to see what is considered a really good, efficient newspaper log roller. Although you need to have an electric drill to use this product, it appears to be one of the best buys. On Amazon, one of the customers included a video showing how to use this product.

Mod Podge

a crafters staple

I love Mod Podge and my favorite finish is the matter finish. If I could only choose one Mod Podge finish, it would be the matte because the finish gives the best and most durable coating. There are so many uses for Mod Podge that I don't even know where to start. It has great sticking power, can be used as a glue as well as a sealant, spreads evenly.....and it dries clear. It cleans up with soap and water.
