Cupcake Tier is a strange word I found while browsing the Web looking for information regarding what are cupcakes. What on Earth could "cupcake tier" mean??? Being a French speaker, I was disturbed by the word "tier". In French, "tier" means a third part of something. Therefore, a tier cup means 0.333 cup. Were people looking for "1/3" smaller or bigger cupcakes than average cupcakes? Hm... What did that mean?
On the road again for a search through Google for "cupcake tier". The results brought me to pages named "Tiered cupcakes". Well, this wasn't more instructive. And what about you, do you know what cupcake tier means?

What Are Tiered Cupcakes?
Learn what are, in reality, cupcake tiers
Since my search on Google didn't bring me a proper answer, I clicked on "Images for cupcake tier" options and discovered the world of tiered cupcakes.
Simply said, cupcake tier are cupcakes made out of several layers of cupcakes. Each layer is linked to the lower layer with frosting and different sized cupcakes are used for each layer.
Nowadays, people use to place cupcakes on cupcake stands instead of attaching cupcakes all together with frosting. One can build a tiered cupcake of any form and on any theme - once again with cupcakes, design options are almost limitless. However, it seems that in order to ease the process, persons mostly use a cupcake stand on which they present several cupcakes; which produces the same tiered cupcake impression.
The advantage of tiered cupcakes is that you can taste different flavors all at once if you use a different cupcake recipe for each layer.
Personally, I'd opt for making a tiered cupcake made out of vanilla cupcakes, cinnamon flavored cupcakes and apple cupcakes (cinnamon and apple match very well with each other and vanilla is a quite neutral flavor).
