Best Buy Fixed Rate UK mortgages

A fixed rate mortage is a mortgage loan where the interest rate remains the same through  the term of the mortgage, ie.  the rate is fixed!  It's a simple as that.  Who said mortgages were complicated?

Here's a list of some of this weeks best deals.   But before you go signing your life away read up.  Know your arrangement fees and your exit fees.  Your standard variable rates from your discounted trackers. Fixed at 4.99% untill 30/11/09. Overall cost for comparison: 7.5% APR

A good offer from the West Bromwich Building Society. A choice of fees, either 2% of the loan amount or £1,999 fixed fee. You'll need to find your calcutor and figure which option works out cheapest for you. There's no tied insurance or Higher Lending Charge with this product.

The rate of 5.38% is good. But you need a 25% deposit, there is a fee of £1,995 and no other incentives.

A decent 5 Year fixed product. But be careful, it comes with a £999 fee and a Higher Lending Charge applies if you have only a 5% deposit. As an incentive there's an annual cash reward of up to £250 for every year you hold a mortgage with Britannia. Read the terms and conditions carefully!
