We didn't realize it at the time, but when we built our home in 5 acres of woods, it was built directly on an old deer trail. Yuck! On the other side, the smell dissipates rather quickly. ordinarily after about 2 days you can barely detect any scent, even when walking in the garden.

Another concern is that this Deer Repellent is quite expensive, especially so if you have a large garden. If you buy the one gallon concentrate you will be able to treat about 800 Hosta with approximately 4 complete applications.

That works out to about $25.00 per application or about $150 for an entire growing season. If you have a big yard like us, that is not a tremendous amount of money to save all of your plants.

Be sure that you keep your garden sprayer very clean after using this product. It the product is left in the sprayer it truly stinks to high heaven and the nozzle will be very difficult to clean. All you have to do is completely rinse the product out of the tank, fill with fresh water and spray it out the hose and nozzle. Also, you have to be sure to apply the product on a very regular schedule or you risk the return of the deer. Even going a few days too long will result in deer returning for a snack. Our experience has shown that the maximum time between applications is between 3 and 4 weeks.

Additionally there are a few things you can do to shrink your deer problem before you have to resort to a deer repellent. Search for plants that have natural deer resistance.
