Dog Behavior Training: What You Need to Know
Ranked #16,327 in Pets & Animals, #462,547 overall
Does Your Dog Think He Can Get Away With Anything?
When you own a dog as a pet, it's vital that you train it to act right - and this includes everything from not tearing up your shoes to alerting you if a burglar is trying to get into the house while you're asleep.
Dogs aren't your usual pet. A cat is fine to pet and cuddle with, but a dog is the type of animal companion that is eager to please you - as the leader of his or her pack. They can protect your family, provide hours of fun, and offer consolation when your day hasn't been so good.
You owe it to your four legged friend to implement some sort of dog training tactics early on so that it won't continue to be berated and scolded when it acts on instinct and not out of loyal devotion to you and your wishes.

"This was purchased as a new method of training both puppy and adult dogs I have as pets. Good all around purchase.
I have a 13 year old son, and this is a great kit for us to work together with for our dogs.
The treats are well received by all the dogs. Need to get more :) "
"This book is easy to understand, cards are a great reference, clicker is small enough to hold in hand with leash. I would recommend any time. "

Dog Training for Shoe Chewers, Potty Mishaps and Bad Attitudes!
There are many different forms of dog training aids. You can get broad general dog training information that helps you have a well-behaved house pet, or specific information like dog agility training for those owners who plan to have their pet in some sort of show. You can also invest in dog training books or DVDs that tackle specific dog training issues like stopping Fido from chewing on your new Christian Louboutin heels. You can find a dog potty training course for those pets who refuse to let you know when it's time to go outside.
As a responsible dog owner, it's your job to determine what your pet's problem areas are and focus on helping it to learn how you want it to act for you. A dog may run off on a whim unless you teach it that when you're out and about, the proper protocol is to stick close to you.
Dog training aids come in handy when you're using a certain strategy to implement obedience in your pet's life. You can choose clickers, treats, and even mild electric gadgets to teach the lessons you want your pet to learn. You'll have to decide which technique works best for you and your pet as a team.
Protection Dog Training Versus House Dog Training
First figure out what your reasons are for training your dog. Is it so that he'll be a well-behaved member of the family - gentle with children, loving and protective of your household and all of its members? Or are you seeking less of a companion and more of a guard dog or show dog?As the owner, you have to size up the various techniques and see which fit you feel most comfortable using. Some people may balk at the idea of using electric shock collars, for example, while others may not have the time to spend constantly monitoring their dog to ensure it learns the right way to behave.
The approaches may be very different. Clicker dog training, for example, can be great in helping dogs learn agility training measures or other show dog. Shock collar training may be helpful in working with big outdoor dogs used as protective measures for the property.
Dogs need to be trained so that they can enjoy life with you. Your dog doesn't want to be an embarrassment to you or stress you out because it feels the repercussions when you're not proud of him. You can have a great relationship with your dog if you choose a good dog training guide and get to work as soon as he becomes a part of your family!
The Longest and Tallest of the AKC Breeds
This gentle giant needs a firm and steady hand.
Caraluna was the name of the kennel we had for over 15 years. We raised and showed the Irish Wolfhound. in both breed and obedience rings and started a few in coursing. The importance of a well trained dog that weighed 90+ pounds AT 6 MONTHS was paramount if this gentle giant were to continue to be a house pet in our home or a lucky new owner's home.Start Them Early!
We were fortunate to have great mentors in the breed and I was a Veterinary Technician at a local veterinary hospital, so socialization as well as regular obedience (for lack of a better term) began around 6 weeks of age. By the time the puppies were ready for their new homes at 12 weeks, they were civilized members of the canine-human communities.
Not Everyone Is So Lucky

"My wife and I love to hike with our German Shepherd. However, her (the dog) behavior had become an issue. Whenever, she sees another dog or horse, she loses her mind, and we lose control of her. We did not want to resolve ourselves to hike with her on a leash.
Now that we have this device she "comes" on command, and not on the second or third time we call. She comes the first time, and to my hand. Now we can hike with her, and gain control when we see dogs, horses, and those who do not share our enthusiasm for dogs.
I like to add this devise is not cruel in any form. It has a dial of 8 settings. I tried it on myself. I could not feel "1" at all. "2" and "3" tingled. "4" felt uncomfortable (not painful), and that is where our dog is set."
