Is One Week Marketing worth buying?

Have you bought One Week Marketing? Is PotPieGirl's e-book the best you have read about online marketing? Was it worth the money? Did it help you? Have you actually made money using the One Week Marketing Action Plan?

WE WANT TO KNOW!

There's a plethora of e-books available all over the internet that claim will help you to make money on Squidoo or online. A search on Google for the phrase "squidoo e-book" returned 903,000 hits. That's an awful lot of links to sift through to find the help you need.

When I first joined Squidoo, it seemed that everywhere you searched about online marketing on Squidoo, people are recommending One Week Marketing. I could not find a review that said it was a waste of money or that the information it contained is useless.

But are things changing? In a thread in the official Squidoo SquidU Forum, members are not exactly saying that the information is useless but the majority ARE questioning the monetary value of the information that is available - so what do YOU think? Have YOUR say. Join the debate!

There's also a lot of e-books out there. Some free ones out there too. Please help build up a "recommended reading" list of the e-books that are genuinely helpful and/or a good investment.

Let's have your recommendations. Tell us what ebooks have helped you and add them to the link plexos below. There's a link list for FREE ebooks and a link list for the ones you PAY for.

Is One Week Marketing really the best or are there other gems out there just waiting to be found?

Have I bought One Week Marketing?

And do I use it?

Yes, I do own One Week Marketing. I bought it back in the Spring of 2009 as I was curious. Some of my Squidoo friends were recommending it and I wanted to see what I might be missing. There was a special deal making the price affordable to me, although the price has since increased to $47, which I would not pay if I was considering buying it now.

I can see how OWM may help people new to the world of Internet Marketing and SEO and while the information in the book is freely available on the Internet, what Jennifer (Potpiegirl) does is bring it all together and explains the processes she has learned (and that work for her) in a very clear and easy to understand manner.

Jennifer also has a writing style that makes it feel as though she is chatting to you.

Yes, I like One Week Marketing because

MissMerFaery says:

It helped me immensely. OK, so you might be able to find it all out for free, but when you are new to SEO, how Google works etc etc (like I was when I bought it) then it is invaluable. I learnt a lot from it and have applied many things to my lenses, and they DO work. I made a Clinkbank sale within a week and had great success with overnight Google ranking. However, I think it might be less relevant now than it was several months ago, unless PPG does a significant update to it, because changes to Google mean that it is easier for new stuff to get ranked quicker anyway.
As to spam emails, I actually get very little mail from her compared to other things I have signed up for. Some of the emails she sends are actually very interesting. The ones I'm not interested in, I just delete. Simple!

I like PPG--she has GREAT energy!!

Joan4 says:

I love One Week Marketing! I learned so much from that book. It is sad to me that the spammers have misused the techniques. OWM is all about original content!

No, I don't like One Week Marketing because

nyfamily5 says:

I bought it a when it first came out and returned it, some thing I've never done before! I felt that the information was redundant and I were things that I was already doing. Creating separate accounts and emails for each group of 5 lens was a bit overwhelming and I have since combined them. BTW never made a sale. The one positive thing is that the checklist came in handy. As for spamming, every email I receive and lots quite a lot, has a buy this new ...... and I feel that she has changed her persona to get me to buy .... OWM is supposed to be free not buying whatever new thing is out there, which happens to be a clickbank product.

Tipi says:

I never bought it because I found PotPie to be spammy and finally blocked her emails that told me nothing new, but tried to get me to buy. I think I've done well without One Week Marketing...and save a few dollars for better things. Just being honest. I have learned what I've need for free on Squidoo and I'm still learning.

BevsPaper says:

Well, I don't hate it but I was disappointed that I had spent so much money for it only to find that the information that I felt the most comfortable with was information I already knew about. There was some really good information included but it was information that I had heard before for free.

vbright105 says:

Hate is a strong word but I was sure disappointed in it. I bought it and put my all into it...it didn't do what it promised to do. I contacted Jennifer (PotPieGirl) and she never answered me. My advice; Save your money

What do I like about One Week Marketing?

The pros

One Week Marketing is full of easy to understand explanations and tips. It will certainly provide a short cut to learning for anyone who is new to Internet Marketing.

The methods that Jennifer describes are easy to understand and she outlines a step by step action plan that is easy to follow.

If you, as I was, are starting out trying to make money on the internet, with no money to invest in your new business venture, then it is possible to apply most of what Jennifer recommends, without spending a dime.

If, like me, you struggle with Time Management, then Jennifer makes it easy for you to make the best use of your time and feel that you will have accomplished something at the end of each day.

What don't I like about One Week Marketing?

The cons

The first nine pages. These are used to outline lots of reasons as to why we should listen to Jennifer and implement her OWM Action Plan.

My response to this was:

"OK Jennifer, I was convinced enough to pay my money already, so let's cut to the chase and get on with it!"

After the first nine pages, there's another nine before we actually start but at least these pages are reaffirming the importance of having an Action Plan.

Maybe it is my impatient Gemini nature, or my "reserved" British nature, but I just think the first nine pages do some overselling, particularly as the sales pages that greet you when you click on the affiliate link, already say much of this.

Another problem I have with OWM is that while no author who is promoting their methods, particularly when they are NOT Black Hat, can be held responsible for how these methods are used in the hands of others, there is always a concern that they will be used in a Black Hat way.

It's a bit like science, safe in the right hands and dangerous in the wrong hands.

Did I learn anything new from OWM?

Yes, I did

Once I had sorted out what aspects of the Action Plan I was comfortable using and discarded bits that definitely were not for me, I found some very useful information, particularly with regard to keyword placement. Since that time I have implemented that particular advice on ALL my Squidoo lenses.

I am sure this is one of the reasons that, when I put the effort in to establish a good number of Backlinks, these lenses do pretty well.

Update: Why there's no affiliate link to One Week Marketing on this page

I do not recommend you buy OWM

Update: February 2011

Why do I NOT recommend that you buy One Week Marketing?

It is out of date to the extent that Case Studies and examples are given using topics that are now banned on Squidoo.

Yes, I agree that OWM has helped some Lensmasters who have gone on to make ethical sales on Squidoo, but it seems that more and more people are coming to realise that all the information about how to make money on Squidoo and online is available for free.

By all means buy OWM if you are in a hurry to earn quickly (although there's no guarantee you will) and you have no problem on publishing the way it teaches and the topics that it recommends. But be careful to read the Squidoo Terms of Service so that you don't spend time making a lens that then gets locked.

No people DO NOT BUY IT. Unfortunately i ve bought it 6 months ago and i wasnt smart enough to return it and ask for a refund. Yes it was easy to read and easy to follow BUT only a a couple of pages were really useful to me but not at a life changing point. I so thirsty for sucess that i didn trealize right away that i already knew most of the stuff and the onlly thing i had to do was to put everything in order. I could go on and on and on......overall experience ...totally dissapointing.

One Week Marketing is without a doubt the most genuine success system to possibly ever hit the Internet. The fact that the founder Jennifer Ledbetter is a very caring and understanding person should only add confidence to anyone that uses one week marketing as an introduction to making money online as well as being an eye opening and uplifting journey for a more seasoned Internet veteran.

Being a user of one week marketing myself also allows me the comfort to support my statements with the knowledge of having seen a lot of trash online that have merely been created with the sole purpose of ripping people off.

One week marketing does and is capable of providing new entrepreneurs etc that are coming online with a genuine opportunity to create a substantial living by working online.

    Warm Regards,

    Clive Anderson
