Best Fantasy Movies from the 80's

Ranked #4,728 in Entertainment, #58,388 overall

For a Fun Saturday Night at Home, Grab Some Popcorn and Have a Fantasy Movie Marathon!

These are some of my favorite movies of all time, and they have been since I was a kid. Each of them has elements of fantasy, sci-fi, and can appeal to both kids and adults. Classics like Labyringth, Legend, the Princess Bride, Lady Hawlk, Never Ending Story, and The Dark Crystal are likely to warm your heart and take you on a fantastic journey of the imagination.

Great movies like this have a special nostalgic appeal, as you watch them again and again. The awesome fantasy movies that came out in the 80's are movies that have had a great deal of longevity and popularity among people of all ages. Most of them are sweet, fun, understandable, light, and funny. They also often mix in elements of science fiction and horror that can be an interesting mix. The plots of most of them have multiple layers, and sometimes have a heartwarming and wise message in the mix somewhere. I think these are some of the best movies for sharing with family and friends, or simply relaxing to by yourself for a nice evening.

Here are some of the best fantasy and science fiction movies I remember from the 80's , and some great movie memorabilia. Now that the holidays have come around, having a few of these on hand could be really nice for down time on a chilly evening- just add popcorn and hot coco. Movies also make a great gift idea! Take a stroll down memory lane or watch them for the first time, I don't think you'll be disappointed. These titles are worth revisiting again and again. :-) Check back soon for more additions and feel free to suggest any favorites I didn't remember!

These Unique Movies Stuck With Us and are Still Awesome to Watch Again! :-)

It's so hard to say which of these I loved the best. Each of them, I watched many times. I always enjoied movies that took me into a fantastical other world, especially those with medieval or renaissance overtones and magic or magical creatures. These movies came out before many of the advances we've made in film, and still captured all of us. The stories had interesting plots that both adults and kids found amusing and entertaining, sometimes with thoughtful messages wrapped in. Good music in movies also became a big thing, and many people not only went to see these in the theaters, but bought the sound tracks!

Great fantasy movies back in the day - Princess Bride is definitely my favorite at all. Also, I have to agree with my compatriot from GetSilly - where's Time Bandits? :)
