Mr. Spock: The Best First Officer Ever

Ranked #10,816 in Entertainment, #120,646 overall

In the original Star Trek TV series, the ever-logical Mr. Spock is both the first officer and science officer of the USS Enterprise. Though he is half-Vulcan and half-human, he identifies himself as a Vulcan. Privately, he struggles between his strictly logical Vulcan-self and his emotional, more intuitive human-self.

The Top Six Reasons Mr. Spock is the Best First Officer

  • Spock is extremely logical and precise.
  • He's highly skilled at math and science.
  • He's a walking encyclopedia.
  • He can knock you out with a Vulcan nerve pinch.
  • He plays a mean game of chess.
  • He died once, but he got better.

Spock Quotes

The Quotable Mr. Spock...

  • I have never understood the female capacity to avoid a direct answer to any question.
  • Nowhere am I so desperately needed as among a shipload of illogical humans.
  • On my planet "to rest" is to rest, to cease using energy. To me it is quite illogical to run up and down on green grass using energy instead of saving it.
  • Judging by the pollution content of the atmosphere, I believe we have arrived at the late twentieth century.
  • Sir, you are employing a double negative.
  • "Fascinating" is a word I use for the unexpected. In this case, I should think "interesting" would suffice.
  • Logic is little tweeting bird chirping in meadow. Logic is wreath of pretty flowers that smell bad.
  • I am endeavoring, ma'am, to construct a mnemonic circuit using stone knives and bearskins.
  • It is curious how often you humans manage to obtain that which you do not want.
  • If I were human, I believe my response would be, "go to hell."
  • A curious creature. Its trilling seems to have a tranquilizing effect on the human nervous system. Fortunately, of course, I am, immune... to... its... effect....
  • After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true.

... they wouldn't wish you a good day. They would tell you to have a logical day.

I am not sure how I feel about Zachary Quinto playing Spock because I think of him as EVIL from being Sylar on Heroes!

I found your lens when I was looking for links for my Star Trek TNG vs Star Trek TOS MonkeyBrain debate and added a link because it is a nicely done Star Trek lens--one of the better Star Trek lenses on Squidoo!
