Some of the best basic fishing knots tutorial
Learn about some of the basic fishing knots which are best used in fishing. It has been seen that an average angler needs to know perhaps not more than three or four basic fishing knots. But one must remember that these knots are directly related with the mode of fishing he/she is prone to. But it will make the game of fishing more interesting if a fisherman knows more than what he needs to know. There are few knots described here in this text piece which are regarded as fundamentals & one should know how to tie as well as use them.
Each knot has got its own definite and prescribed purpose. The knot that you are using can make all the difference between baiting a big fish or losing it. It has to be properly tied or formed. As a matter of fact, the more one will practice tying or using them, the more they will become second nature to you. It is most important that you use knots that can be tied in an easily remembered manner.
The basic knots that are described here come under "tackle fishing knots"," basic loop fishing knots" and "basic fishing knots for joining two loops" categories.

TACKLE FISHING KNOTS
There are four tackle fishing knots that are counted as basic here is an overview of each of them with a tutorial on how to tie these knots. You can learn to tie these fishing knots in video format on marinews.comUni Knot:

This uni-knot is one of the best basic fishing knots that help to withstanding sudden jerks better than other knots. This knot is very strong in nature and can be used in a number of applications. This one is most commonly used for tying fishing line to terminal tackle.
The uni-knot works with both braided lines as well as mono filament fishing lines. The most interesting part of uni Knot is that it can be tied directly to the hooks eye in the traditional manner or it can also be tied as a loop. To tie it properly one needs to slide the knot all the way to the eye simply and make the loop to the size as desired. Then, grip the loop just forward of the hook eye and pull firmly on the tag end. This will lock the knot around the standing line.
Palomar Knot

The Palomar knot is a simple one and it is quick as well as easy to tie. This is can be used for attaching a line to a hook, or a fly to a leader or tippet. It is regarded as one of the strongest and most reliable fishing knots. To tie a Palomar knot, one has to pass the loop through the eye and has to tie an overhand loop on it. Then the loop needs to be passed over the hook and has to be tightened down. The knot is recommended to be used with braided lines.
Grinner Knot

Grinner knot is a multi purpose basic fishing knot and it also easy to tie and comes with almost 100% breaking strength. This knot is more securely clinched than it's relative blood knot. The knot is used to attach swivels, lures and hooks to the main line. To tie a grinner knot one has to put the tag end through the eye of the hook or swivel and has to wrap the tag end around the standing part 5 times. Now one needs to pull the tag end and the standing part and drag the knot with thumb & index finger in a manner so that it can help the knot to move towards the eye. It is recommended to lubricant the knot to pull it tight.
Clinch Knot

Clinch knot is the simplest & arguably the most preferred basic fishing knot used today. If one can tie the knot properly it comes as a strong one and doesn't slips ever. This knot is perfect when you are using a lure for fishing. To tie a clinch knot one needs to pass the line eye through the hook or swivel. Double it back and make five turns around the line. Then again pass the line through the first loop (above the eye) following through the large loop. Latter, pass the end of the line through the first loop by the eye of hook & draw the knot into shape. Now slide the cols down tight against the eye.
BASIC LOOP FISHING KNOTS
Dropper Loop

Dropper loop is an even popular basic fishing knot and it is mostly used to attach additional flies, baits or jigs to a single fishing line. If desired, the loop can be made long enough to set a hook directly on it. But it is recommended to not to make loop too long as maximizes the risk of fouling and twisting.
To tie a dropper loop, create a loop in the line and hold the lines where they cross each other. Then wrap the loop around this crossover point about six times. Open a hole in the twists where you are holding the lines. After that pass the loop through this hole and hold the loop with your teeth and pull the knot tight.
Perfection Loop

The Perfection Loop regarded as the easiest way to tie a small loop in the end of a leader or tippet. It lies perfectly in line with the standing end. The loop is commonly used to join the line at end of a fly. To tie the perfection loop one has to form a loop in the end of the line. Then pass the end across the loop. While doing so pass it around the standing end to form a second parallel loop. Now pass the end between the loops and the second loop through the first. Lubricate the line and tighten it by pulling on the standing end. Trim the end.
Rapala Knot

Rapala knot is named after the lure company that popularized the idea of connecting lures to mono filament lines. This is a non-slippery basic fishing knot that has to be tied directly with the lure. Swivel or leaders are essential and it is recommended to choose the lightest tackle possible as it allows the lure to move with a natural motion. To tie a rapala knot one needs to form an overhand loop first the the line has to be passed through the eye and again back through the overhand knot. Latter wrap the end three times round the standing end pass the line through the overhand knot and then through the loop just formed.
BASIC FISHING KNOTS FOR JOINING TWO LINES : -
Double Uni Knot

It is recommended to make 8 turns in the knot if you are using it with the braided line and make more then 5 turns when you are using it with the monofilament.
To tie the double uni knot, one needs to overlap the lines to be joined and then one has to encircle one line with the tag of the other. The wrap the double strand inside the loop formed and make four wraps. Close the knot (not that tightly though), and repeat the step with the other end too. You will find there are two knots on each line around the other. Now slide the knots towards each other and tighten each in turn.
Surgeon Knot

To make the knot more powerful it is recommended to make at-least five or up to seven turns on each side of the center. To tie a blood knot, first overlap the two ends to be joined. Now wrap one end around the other about six times. Then tuck the end back between the lines and use the other end similarly. After completing about six turns, tuck the end back between the lines.
