Top Five Free Gaming Podcasts

I selected Painkiller Already, or PKA for the number one gaming podcast, because it makes tons of episodes, is very funny, and doesn't concentrate on the gaming too much. One feature I enjoy from the podcast is the prank calls they do. For example last November they had a series called "Road to MW3" where they would prank call Wal-Marts and Gamestops to see if any would sell a copy of Modern Warfare 3, before it was released to the public. I would love to put in all sorts of funny stories from the podcast, but I wouldn't want to spoil it for you. A downside of this podcast is that sometimes, very rarely, but sometimes their content seems watered down because of their lack of editing. This podcast is my absolute favorite podcast of all time, if you were to download just one episode of one podcast, download the latest one from PKA.

The Yogpod is great because of the same reasons that PKA is great, but the Yogpod isn't quite as great for pretty much one reason. The reason the Yogpod falls behind PKA is because they don't release episodes regularly at all. Sometimes they can go months between episodes, sometimes weeks, but thankfully, they made a New Years resolution to make more podcasts in 2012! This podcast is run by two British guys, unlike PKA. This podcast is heavily edited, and often has content from a long while ago, which makes the funny stuff more condensed. The down side: their podcasts are often hardly an hour and podcasts that are a half hour are commonplace, which means less time of being entertained. The Yogpod doesn't have any consistent features, but it often discusses people such as Worick Davis, Tina Barrett, and Brian Blessed. The Yogpod is a stellar podcast and you should listen to every episode.

The YAGB podcast is probably the funniest or one of the funniest podcasts in this lineup, but it has a few critical flaws. One flaw is that they rarely put out a show, about once every two or three months, but when they do release a show, it is top notch, superb quality humor. This is one of those podcasts that you could listen to all of the shows in one day. They have about eight shows that are 45 minutes each. This podcast was great while it lasted but it didn't last long.

This is a stellar top-of-the-line, informative, professional podcast that has no flaws, but at the same time that is the biggest issue I have with it. This is a very good podcast if you want to be informed, if you want to play the game better, not a podcast for laughing your head off. This podcast has a semi-regular schedule for podcast release, every two weeks, every week or every month. This is a very informative podcast and passes the time on a long drive well, but thats about it.

This is a very similar podcast to YAGB, that's because two of the podcasters from YABG make up Host Migration. Host Migration has a story similar to YABG, they are very funny, but stopped making podcasts around the time they got job offers from Machinima, a company that uploads video game gameplay on Youtube. This is a great podcast, but when those ten episodes have finished playing, there aren't any more coming, ever.
