A quick guide to some of the best iPhone applications for photographers
The iPhone is great and, ignoring the hype, it's actually useful. Its best feature for me is the ability to add applications.
Here's a list of the best free iPhone applications for photographers. That's right, no fees to pay with the applications on this list.
These applications are to assist photographers using other cameras, not the iPhone's built-in camera.

Field Tools
Field Tools is a tool for calculating hyperfocal distance, near focusing point and far focussing point. Very simple to use. Just choose which distance you want to find and move the sliders to your aperture and focal length settings.
GPS Ally
So far, I've found this to be the best GPS iPhone app for me. It's not perfect, but here's why I use it:If I'm out in the field, I can email myself the GPS co-ordinates of my current location. I could potentially do that with taking a photo on the iPhone, but I don't want yet another photo to manage.
GPS Ally is simple to use.
I'm keeping an eye out for something that fits my workflow better.
FlickIt
Cambio
Although not a photography application itself, I find it very useful as a photographer. It converts units from one measurement to another. It's useful for helping me understand depth of field, the weight allowed on a tripod, the distance to the subject, etc. Google Earth
This application is useful for looking for new locations. Fancy a location shoot somewhere, now you can have a look at it without getting out of the office (or bar or wherever else you may be). iPhone photography news
