It's been so long...

I've been a gamer for over 16 long years. Oh yes, it has been blissful. It has been sweet. It has been, at times, aggravating beyond belief.
But I love it, and wouldn't have it any other way. Over such a long period of time, you see some great games come and go. That's why I made this lens. To showcase my favorites. Some are obvious, others obscure. Read on.

I'd love to hear your suggestions for what games should go here, too!

NES

Now that's old school...

8-bit might seem a little out of date, but there were some awesome titles available that have stood the test of time.

Super Mario Bros. 3

The third game in a series that everyone knows and loves, Super Mario Bros 3 delivers more platformer, Goomba-squashing, Koopa-defeating action. And who can resist the Tanooki suit?

Legend of Zelda

Whoooa, this series has come such a long way! Regardless, Legend of Zelda on the NES provides hours of solid RPG entertainment. Fond memories of this one. *tear*

Super NES

The SNES provided more memorable years for me than the NES (mostly because I was older), and it's really amazing to see how games progressed from one console generation to another.

Super Mario All Stars

Several games in one! All the NES Mario games in one package, plus "The Lost Levels", released exclusively in Japan! Must-have!

Super Mario World

The first true Mario game for the SNES. Meet Yoshi, Mario's dinosaur pal, and save the princess... yet again.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Speaking of saving the princess... Link is back to rescue Zelda. God, I played through this game too many times I think. If you've only played from the N64 onward, you need to get this game.

Killer Instinct

Killer Instinct! The only game that had the gall to knock Mortal Kombat off the top of the fighting games ladder! Mortal Kombat for the SNES got kind of stale, but Killer Instinct kept on giving!

The SEGA Genesis

Rival to the SNES

I didn't play the Genesis as much as the other consoles, but I definitely have a few favorites.

Shining Force 2

An RPG for the ages. Battles are played out on a grid-system that allows for tactical warring. Simply put, I love this game.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors

Zombies ate my neighbors! Journey into a kitschy horror world and save your kooky neighbors from certain death in over 55 levels!

Sonic & Knuckles

Who could forget Sonic? Play as either the blue hedgehog himself or Knuckles the Echidna in one of the many Sonic installments on this system.

Comix Zone

Play as Sketch Turner, the comic artist who gets trapped in a comic of his own making! He probably wishes he wasn't so creative after the first few monstrosities attack him!

The Ooze

A truly innovative game if I have ever seen one. Play as the Ooze, a radiated mess. Acquire radiated mass onto yourself in order to extend the reach of your oozy green arms. This game needs to be experienced to be understood!

Sony Playstation

Ah, good old Playstation. I didn't get one until about 7 years after the console's release, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it!

Metal Gear Solid

Wow! This game has truly stood the test of time. The first game in the Metal Gear series since the days of the NES, this game was worshiped when it came out, and it's easy to see why. "Tactical Espionage Action" is the perfect descriptor for this game.

Star Ocean: The Second Story

For all the RPG fans out there, this game is a gem. You either know it or you don't, and if you're an RPG fan and you don't know it, make yourself acquainted immediately.

Classic Game Room HD - MILITARY MADNESS NECTARIS review

Classic Game Room HD reviews MILITARY MADNESS NECTARIS for XBLA, Xbox Live Arcade. Also available for PS3 on Playstation Network. This is a turn-based strategy game like a game of chess with little tanks and space planes and stuff. This TBS video game (turn based strategy) may appeal to those who like strict, strategy based, turnbased gaming rather than building and attacking on the fly like you would do in a real time strategy game (like Command and Conquer or Herzog Zwei)....

Interesting Lens! I've played games longer than you - about 30 years...OK so the games I played on my original computer (Sinclair ZX81) were simple - more like Pong than anything we see to day - it was a start. Most of the games I play personally are on the PC, the Wii, the XBox 360 - I like the RTS games and RPG games...my personal fave at the mo...The Witcher
