The holidays are out of control. No one knows what to buy anyone, and most of us don't need anything anyway.

Here's the thing

People are probably starting to ask you what they can get you for the holidays. You're probably thinking about what you're going to give others too.

This year, I'm telling everyone who asks to find their favorite cause and donate whatever they'd spend on me.

My gift is a note from them explaining what they did (and why). Bonus if the note is gift wrapped, but not required.

Top five reasons why no gift at all is the best gift ever

  • Most of us don't need more stuff
  • Getting stressed about the holidays is nuts
  • You'll feel a whole lot better
  • You'll be doing something worthwhile
  • All the cool kids are doing it this year
