Our Best Home Cinema Systems

We just love home cinemas and as the technology improves, great brands like Sony, Samsung and Panasonic give us more reasons to part with our cash. We have put our extensive knowledge on the subject to good use and come up with our list of the best home cinema systems available in 2008 and 2009.
Sony DAV-DZ260 (DAVDZ260)
This surround sound home cinema system comes with 5.1 speaker technology, 1080p video upscale, HDMI ports and all important wireless rear speakers.
Sony BDV-FS350 (BDVFS350)
This system is joined with a blu-ray player to give you ultimate viewing pleasure for all your expensive blu-ray discs. The set of speakers with this home cinema give a dominant look and feel to the set.
Sony HT-IS100 (HTIS100)
This Sony home cinema system fully supports 1080p imaging and comes with the all important HDMI ports. This system only supports DVDs, CDs and the usual array of MP3, Divx and WMA, no blu-ray unfortunately.
Panasonic SC-BT100
Another beauty from Panasonic, this time they provide a tuner and blu-ray player as well as the usual subwoofer and speakers. There is also support for Dolby Digital Plus.
Samsung RTS-HE10T
The Samsung home cinema system provides us with a cute little USB connection port for adding music and video to the experience. Together with a DVD player and 5.1 speakers this is a cute little home cinema.
Samsung HT-TZ315R
This system combines 4 floor standing speakers with a DVD player, receiver and a sub woofer for that extra bit of bass. No good for blu-ray discs though :(
Sony RHT-G500 (RHTG500)
This Sony home cinema doubles up as a piece of Tv furniture so you can stick the LCD TV on top, and the blu-ray player on the shelf. It has integrated speakers but only 50 Watt.
Panasonic SC-PT860
This Panasonic system has 4 floor standing speakers, a sub and DVD player all with 5.1 system sound.
Panasonic SC-PT467
This comes with 4 satellite speakers, a sub and added Full HD 1040p upscaling technology which turns standard definition images to HD. Also has a DVD player with it.
Samsung HT-X715T
Samsung have created this home cinema with some odd looking speakers, 2 long thin ones, 2 short stubby ones and a sub. The system also comes video upscaling and a DVD player.
Panasonic SC-PT170
This Panny has 4 satellite speakers, a sub and a silver DVD player. Also comes with remote control, USB socket for audio playback and good old SCART sockets.
Sony DAV-F200 (DAVF200)
This is a very modern looking home cinema with a top loading DVD system, 2 flat panel speakers and a subwoofer. It has a built in AM/FM radio and video upscaling to 1080p.
Samsung HT-X710T
This is the younger brother to the Samsung HT-X715T and so the speakers look just as odd, with the 2 tall skinny ones and the 2 short fat ones. But the speaker system is only 2.1, the rest is pretty much the same as the newer Samsung HT-X715T.
Samsung HT-X810R
This Samsung soundbar has a unique design. The speaker is one long bar, just over a meter long. It also comes with integrated DVD player, FM tuner and bluetooth for wireless connections.
Sony DAV-DZ280 (DAVDZ280)
This Sony home cinema includes an iPod cradle, USB port and the usual top of the range 5.1 speaker system, DVD player and video upscaling.
Samsung HT-TZ215R
This Samsung beast is huge, with 4 floor standing speakers it looks very dominating. All 5.1 speaker sound and includes DVD player, video upscaling and all important HDMI ports.
Panasonic SC-PT160
This home cinema kit comes with speaker set, receiver and DVD player and 5 satellite speakers as well as the expected subwoofer. The receiver has builtin DTS and the speaker system is 5.1, but unfortunately no video upscaling. Hence the cheaper price tag.
Pioneer DCS-580
Another Pioneer system with 4 huge floor standing speakers, DVD player, tuner and the very versatile USB port.
LG HT303 ( HT303SU )
With 5 satellite speakers you can have sound from literally every corner of the room. The subwoofer helps with the deeper sounds and you also get a DVD player for those entertaining nights in.
Philips HTS3367/05
This system comes with an unusually large set of speakers including 2 floor standing 2 satellites and a sub all with 5.1 technology. There is also a receiver and DVD player which has video upscaling and all the latest digital ports such as USB and HDMI.
Samsung HT-TX500R
Samsung have made an odd combination here, they have 4 floor standing speakers which is no special thing in itself, but then an extra floor standing speaker which is the sub. A very strange setup indeed, especially for effective sound distribution. The system comes with a DVD player, tuner and amplifier to really get that sound pumping.
LG HT462DZ
This LG home cinema system comes with 2 champagne flute looking floor standing speakers a subwoofer and a receiver/DVD player. No video upscaling but comes with HDMi and SCART ports.
Samsung HT-A100T
This Samsung system lacks a little bit in the speaker department. With only 2 stubby speakers and a sub. As well as only being 2.1 speaker technology, the DVD player/tuner doesnt really make up for the relatively high price.
