Best Laptop Cooling Pads in 2012
Ranked #378 in Computers & Electronics, #5,171 overall
Laptop Cooling Pads - Laptop Cooler Pads - Laptop Cooling Stands
If you have a notebook you probably noticed that when you keep your laptop in bed or on your knees it gets pretty hot.
And not necessarily when you are in more demanding applications or games, but also if you just simply leave it on standby. Perhaps you thought you should buy an cooling pad which should also be a support for your laptop.
As with desktops, it is important that air enters one side and exits the other side. For laptops, air enters through holes placed in general below of the notebook and exits through the back side (where fans are).
This is why it is not recommended to keep your laptop on your knees or in bed or on any other surfaces that cover vents. In extreme cases, depending on how much heat components emit your laptop can even burn. And you certainly don't want this to happen.
The most recommended solution is to buy a cooling pad to ventilate your laptop but should also act as a support as well. Below you have some of the best laptop cooling pads that will avoid your notebook from overheating.

Cooler Master NotePal U2 Notebook Cooler with Two Fans
One of the best laptop cooling pads!
Cooler Master NotePal U2 Notebook Cooler with Two FansProduct Description:
NotePal U2 is a simple stand that elevates your notebook to a comfortable viewing angle and allows you to work with a better posture.
The aluminum meshed design ensures that heat dissipates quickly to prevent your notebook from overheating.
Its slim and lightweight feature gives you the absolute convenience to take anywhere, easy stow away, and protection.
Two optional 80mm fans will allow you to cool the necessary areas generating the most heat.

User review: You name it, Zalman, Belkin, Antec, Notepal Infinite, I've almost tried them all, some even triple the price. The U2 is by far better. Its light weight, simple design, and super super quiet. What I like most is the movable / positionable fans allowing you pin point where the hot spots are which is unique to different brands/model of laptops. In most cases, I don't even turn on the fan. The vented holes allow good air circulation. My 15" MBP typically stays below 50C and it fits on top of it perfectly. The large rubber pads keep itself from sliding. For the price you can't find a better gig than this.

Cooler Master Notepal X2 Notebook Cooler
One of the best laptop cooling pads!
Cooler Master Notepal X2 Notebook CoolerProduct Description:
With efficient functions and superb silent concept in mind, the NotePal X2 creates optimal comfort for laptop users.
Either on a desk or on the lap of an on-the-go user, the NotePal X2 takes air from a bottom intake and cools down high temperatures with its 140mm silent fans, dissipating the high temperatures generated by the CPU and GPU trapped inside the laptop housing.
- Blue LED shines through center mesh when notebook cooler is powered on
- Two different height settings for improved comfort
- Accomodates up to 17-Inch notebooks
- Fan speed control
- Built in silent 140 mm fan
- Accommodates up to 17-Inch notebooks

User review: I've had this pad for about a month now and it has worked excellently for me! It is quiet, even on its highest setting (no louder than the system fan would be). I originally bought it so I could game more intensively as it would get extremely warm before, and also to help extend the life of my computer overall, though I have also found it of great help during normal use.
When I am playing games, I have it on the highest setting and the heat coming from my computer is drastically reduced from prior to the use of this product. I feel much more comfortable running games on higher settings because I'm not relying on the system fan to keep the hardware cool.

Thermaltake Massive23 LX Laptop Notebook Cooler Oversized 230mm Blue LED Fan USB
One of the best laptop cooling pads!
Thermaltake Massive23 LX Laptop Notebook Cooler Oversized 230mm Blue LED Fan USBProduct Description:
You know heat is very bad for electronics. You know your notebook is running hot.
Now you will know how Thermaltake's latest Massive23 LX performance notebook cooler can help you to cool down your notebook that holds some of the most important files or memories of your life.
Massive23 LX, with its massive and oversized 230mm ultra-quiet fan effectively push incredible amount of air while producing unnoticeable noise output.
The embedded blue LEDs inside the fan as well as the fan itself can be easily turned On or Off with a built-in switch.
Handles designed into the cooler allow users to effortlessly carry the notebook cooler with them wherever they go. Low power draw from the fan puts minimum strain on your notebook's battery power.

User review: My laptop was getting very warm when I would have it on my lap. Bought this laptop cooler and my laptop stays so much cooler. I am amazed at how quiet it is.
I used Thermaltake products all the time while building custom PCs and I figured this one would work well. I chose a large fan as opposed to the smaller fans offered by some competitors so that there would be less noise. Typically smaller fans need to operate faster to cool the same amount as a slower-moving, larger fan.
Besides simply raising the laptop from my lap so I feel less heat, the fan actually moves plenty of air and keeps the laptop much cooler than it was before.

User review: My newly purchased Dell Inspiron 15" laptop was getting burning hot!! I actually feared the bottom of the computer was going to burn my desk! I couldn't even have the computer on my lap because it would heat up way too much. I was afraid my computer would eventually wear out because of this. I looked at lots of cooling pads and did my homework and chose this one. It was a little more than I wanted to spend on a cooling pad, but I needed a way to protect my computer from self destructing. When it arrived, I was very happy with it's quality and good looks. It was nicely made. It really works!! My computer is no longer hot and is at a normal temperature. I keep the fan on the highest setting and do not think it is loud or noisy either. I highly recommend this cooler.

User review: I wish I would have known about and had this product years ago! I searched for a laptop cooler for quite a while before making a decision on one. (I am extremely picky about products and it is hard to impress me sometimes). At the time I reviewed it and was considering purchasing it, every reviewer had given it 5 out of 5 stars. I can see why!!! I am EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with this cooler. The moment I put my laptop on top of it, I knew I was going to love it. I was hooked. It has 5 angles you can set it at for your comfort. This is an extremely convenient feature because you can raise it high enough that it is at eye level and use a wireless keyboard and have the convenience and comfort of a desktop. The cooling stand will hold a laptop that is anywhere from 9" to 17". Since mine is 17", this is very convenient. The cooling fan is extremely quiet! (I had to mute my television and listen very intently to hear it working). It cools my laptop off very well.

- I have been using a self inflating laptop pad for travel. It is very convenient and real easy to store, and under $10. See www.airepadlaptopcooler.com The hard plastic ones with fans are nice but I'm not dragging them around with me.
