Why is Samsung's LED LCD Better than the Regular Samsung LCD?

The Samsung series 9 and the UNB7000 series LED LCDs incorporates new technology called the LED backlighting. The result is exceedingly deep black levels for an LCD TV with extremely accurate color. LED is a phenomenal picture-quality technology for the HDTV. The LED technology is able to achieve dramatic contrast levels and express "actual black levels" by completely shutting off a pixel's light source, eliminating the grayish black picture plaguing many LCD HDTVs. This results in better quality on the images along with thinner display panel compared to the ordinary LCDs. The LED technology enables longer lasting life for your HDTV along with lower power consumptions than the regular LCDs. The LED technology enables brighter screen making it perfect for both day and night time viewing.
Samsung's improved Ultra Clear Panel technology eliminates ambient light reflection that may affect picture quality, ensuring perfect picture clarity even in bright viewing surroundings. By enhancing color reproduction level, Samsung's Ultra Clear Panel technology also lets consumers enjoy the detail and vibrancy of colors.
With the help of the local dimming technology, the Samsung series 9 acheives 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for a crisp, full HD 1080p picture. Adding to the superior picture quality in the Series 9 is Samsung's Auto Motion Plus 120Hz technology that reduces the motion blur caused by fast-paced content, providing the top quality performance for fast motion movies and games.
Sony's TRILUMINOS RGB LED Backlight Technology
Pushing The LED Backlight Technology to The Next Level

TRILUMINOS RGB LED backlight technology aligns individual clusters of red, green, and blue LEDs to produce a significantly higher purity of primary colors than single white LED backlights, resulting in more accurate color reproduction. This clustered arrangement also allows the XBR8 series to adjust the brightness of the backlight in units of small blocks, so it can display deep blacks in one portion of the screen and bright whites in another, producing images with enhanced depth, three-dimensionality and exceptionally accurate shadow detail. And, because it uses LEDs rather than the fluorescent tubes found in many HDTVs, the TRILUMINOS RGB Dynamic LED backlight will produce image that better than the regular LCDs, also promises exceptionally long life.
The models also feature BRAVIA Engine 2 PRO, which is Sony's latest high quality picture processing technology, and with Motionflow 120Hz high frame rate technology to reduce the motion blur during fast action movies. The Motionflow algorithm identifies film content and removes "judder" resulting in a clearer picture with smoother motion during sweeping pans without a visible jerking or stuttering.
The TRILUMINOS RGB Dynamic LED backlight produces 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio to display perfect dark scenes during movie and gaming. Further, unlike conventional full-screen luminance control, the BRAVIA suppresses unneeded backlighting and, therefore, consumes less power than the conventional LED-backlit models.
