The Best Love Songs Ever

Love songs are a small area of music where everyone can find a voice they like or a song that takes them back to a moment or someone.

Pop music seems to have the most variety and choices when it comes to love songs. They can be cheesy, sappy, and a lot of the time pointlessly silly. There are some that stand out, and while I don't expect this to be limited to just pop songs, it will ikely be the main place where the choices are drawn from.

First, they'll be the video and hopefully a link to download the song(also if available) at the end of  a discription and my random ramblings about it and why it was chosen.

So here they are, in no particular order, the best love songs ever.

Why "Kiss From A Rose"?

This song first appeared on one of Seal's albums before being brought back to life by the Batman Forever movie. There also exists two music videos for the song. The one listed I believe is the best of the two.

With it's great melody, Seal's voice and lyrics this is one of the best love songs out there. Some have said this song is about drug use, but it's hard to imagine it being about anything other than love. The song contains a great lyric in:

"Love remains a drug that's the high and not the pill"

This song always makes me think of someone special.

Why "All I Have To Give"?

This is definitely one of the Backstreet Boys' best songs. All I Have To Give seems to be about a guy who likes a girl but can't give her all the expensive things another man, seemingly her boyfriend, can. This same boyfriend also makes her cry and surely some other things not expressly mentioned in the song. The song's hero can only give the girl that he's smitten by one thing, his love.

I think something that makes this song great is that it implies, or poses, the question if giving your love is enough. The girl's boyfriend sounds like he can give her any material want she could desire, but is that enough? Can the poorer guy with nothing but himself to give actually GET the girl?

The song doesn't answer this, but I enjoy the fact it is brought up.

"All I Have To Give" has appeared on numerous Backstreet Boys released material. First on it's original album, then as part of greatest hits collections.

Why "Here Without You"?

This song on the list I think may be hindered by the music video. It was a good choice for 3 Doors Down to keep it mostly performance based.

Here Without You is about missing someone you love. How when you think of them all the miles between you and them go away. I think anyone who has ever actually experienced:

"A hundred days have me older since the last time that I saw your pretty face"

Will be able to relate well to this song. Distance is no object or hindrance to the two lovers in this song. No matter where you are or where they are you can't stop thinking about them, and wanting to be with them again, and that times get hard, but when you're reunited your love will be as strong as ever.

Fantastic love song.

"Here Without You" Musicology

"Here Without You" first appeared on the album Away From The Sun but can now be found in single form or as apart of live concert CDs released from 3 Doors Down as well.

Jessica Simpson F/ Nick Lachey - Where You Are

Why "Where You Are"?

Once upon a time in music there was a love affair between the two singers that duet in this song. Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were one of the most well known couples of pop music during the late 90s and early 2000s. This song, they did for the Here On Earth movie soundtrack, captures a moment in time when these two singers were head over heels in love with each other. It shows in the music video and you can hear it in the song.

Arguably one of the most romantic songs on this website Where You Are seems to actually be about lost love. Lost love in the actual death of a loved one. For those who may not be aware Jessica Simpson is a faithful Christian which is where a lot of her earliest music inspirations came from, so Where You Are is perfectly in the arena Jessica would write and sing about.

This song shines in what's heard and felt more than what's sung and spoken. In a few years this song should easily be on love song compilations from it's time period and love song collections.

"Where You Are" Musicology

Where You Are appeared on Jessica Simpson's album Sweet Kisses as well as the Here On Earth soundtrack.

Why "All or Nothing"?

The back story of this band is interesting enough to reiterate. O-Town was the band created by P Diddy after the first season of MTV's Making The Band. They have since broken up and the blonde in the video, Ashley Parker Angel, has gone on to do other things. Also during this time, Diddy, was looking to get into the boyband business also creating a girl group named Dream. Neither band had a long run in the big time and are both broken up now, but they did give us the random good song here and there. Which brings us to All or Nothing.

The song is about giving everything you have to someone and wanting them to give it back. If they won't give you everything they are and everything they have, then the hero doesn't think that's enough to continue.

Despite how it sounds the song is very heartfelt.

All or Nothing has very few appearance by O-Town since they broke up. Westlife covered the song later on, but these guys are the originals.

Why "A Little Bit"?

"A Little Bit" has a simple message that all we ever need is a little bit of love, because a little bit of love goes a long way. The lyrics to this song go deeper than that explaining how the relationship takes on meanings in actions more than what we say. It's not about saying you love them, but SHOWING you love them if it's even in the smallest way.

This song appears on Alexz Johnson's Voodoo album in a brilliant arrangement done by Alexz herself with her brother, and producer, Brendan Johnson. A country variant of the song appears on her remixed album of Voodoo called Reloaded.

Alexz Johnson Musicology

Alexz Johnson played Jude Harrison on the TV show Instant Star singing all the music for the show. The show created 4 albums plus a Greatest Hits record for the show. Her own music consists of Voodoo and Reloaded, a remixed version of the Voodoo album.
