How To Give A Best Man Wedding Toast

It is truly an honor to be asked to be the best man at a wedding. However, many men cringe at the thought of having to speak in front of an audience. This lens aims to relieve many of those fears and make your best man toast memorable (in a good way!).

What to say, and what NOT to say

  • Do: Be Prepared
    Decide what you are going to say several weeks in advance, and write your ideas down.
  • Do: Practice
    Rehearse your speech in front of a mirror, for friends or a video camera. The more familiar you are with your toast, the more confident you will be delivering it at the wedding.
  • Don't: Embarass the Bride and Groom
    Don't tell embarassing bachelor party stories. Instead, talk about how good a friend the groom is, childhood stories, or the wonderful relationship the bride and groom have.
  • Don't: Drink Too Much Before the Toast
    Limit yourself to one or two drinks to calm your nerves. Too much alcohol can make you say things you will regret later!
