Multiplication Games
Educational games disguised as fun! ;)
Electronic Multiplication Games
There are many different types of multiplication games, but considering the popularity of computer games, and console games like X-box and Nintendo, electronic multiplication games are often more appealing - especially to young teens. Most of these have sound (which can be turned off), lights and sometimes even voices. They all have a scoring and level system which motivates children to achieve better and better results - effectively improving not only their multiplication skills, but their speed in mental calculation.
Electronic Multiplication Games

Combining learning with the fun and sense of challenge and achievement of a Nintendo DS type game, this portable electronic flash card device has a range of levels and can be played in a variety of ways. Its modes include playing against the clock, saving scores from the last 9 games, as you achieve new levels. It gives the child a similar sense of challenge, fun and achievement of "non-educational" games - and they won't even notice they're learning their times-tables!
LeapFrog Electronic Flash Magic Flash Cards - Multiplication & Division

Batteries included are for in-store demonstration, and should be replaced to improve performance. Requires 3 button cell AG13 (LR44) alkaline batteries.
Perfect for kids who find paper flash cards boring, Flash Magic is a fun multiplication game. Small enough to be carried in a pocket, it also has an option to have the sound on or off! - a big plus for parents ;) It keeps score, and, as one young reviewer put it: "I also think it is pretty cool that you can shake it to get the answer. Once I accidently flung it across the floor. It still works great."

The levels start off easy and increase in difficulty, and kids want to play again and again to improve their accuracy and time. This one makes a great Christmas gift.... and has a volume control, which is of course very important for parent sanity! ;) So, if you don't have headphones, you can still turn the volume down or off for quiet play.

- There is so much more to choose from now. My students would have loved these. They are also good for adults to stay sharp. I've done research, and adults who do math exercises and crossword puzzles have less memory problems.
