I suspect it was intentionally designed with the modder in mind because there's not a drop of glue anywhere. Just remove the screws and open the case. Once inside, you only need to add an extra spring. Don't worry about removing the restrictor. You'll get plenty of range with just the spring mod. My favorite source of springs? The dollar store. Buy yourself a toilet paper roll dispenser, remove the spring and insert it in tandem with the stock spring in the piston. Voila, you have 100 ft range.""

If you are new to Nerf modifications, then it is important that you understand exactly what you doing and exercise alot of patience. Plus it helps to study a few of the blasters out before you attempt a nerf mod so that you grasp the mechanics behind how spring powered nerf blaster work. If you break your brand-new nerf toy, don't come crying to us about how we ruined your Long shot. Consider yourself warned.

Nerf Long Shot Magazine Mod

Here's a quick run down on one of the easier Nerf Mods for the Long Shot

The idea behind this simply nerf mod is to modify the dart magazine so that it will hold more rounds.

From the picture what you are seeing really is a finished result of this mod. It basically is 2 long shot dart magazines modified together so that it makes ONE larger one. This particular dart magazine Mod will hold about 12 darts.

It's Not too hard to do here's a basic run down on how to do this mod.


  • First step is to figure out where to cut. Then REMOVE THE SCREWS AND SPRINGS FROM BOTH MAGAZINES and carefully cut where you measured on both magazines.
  • The magazine that will end up being the bottom half needs to be cut to 4" in height. The magazine that will end up as the top half of the magazine needs to be cut to 4-1/4" in height. The best way to make a nice clean cut is to use a table saw or band saw with a rip fence.
  • Use an X-acto knife to deburr the inside edges of both halves of the dart magazine. They need to be smooth otherwise you will not make a nice clean joint and it may also prevent the darts from loading properly
  • Apply some super glue and join the 2 pieces together. Being careful not to get any glue residue on the inside of the dart magazine.
  • Combine the two springs using 10-32 screws, hex nuts, and washers. Do not tighten them all the way, and if you use metal screws and nuts you may have to apply thread-lock or use self-locking hex nuts.
  • Now you are ready to put your new Modded dart magazine together

O.k, first off, I would have given this gun 4 stars, but then one day I decided I needed to buy more bullets, probably because I didn't have enough darts for all my guns. I bought some Sonic Micro Darts to try out with my Maverick. The first thing I noticed was they looked cooler in the barrel of my Maverick. But it get's better. I fired and it flew far. Really far. At least 3 FEET FARTHER!

Plus they whistle, so it sounds like bullets are whizzing over your head. With the Sonic Micro darts, the Maverick is top notch. Also, you can modify it even if you think your bad at doing stuff like that. There's 2 little plastic pieces to cut off, and then the barrel comes out all the way, which makes reloading faster. I don't have any problems with this gun, except for sometimes the barrel can't spin because a dart is sticking up. Just push it down.

Simple Nerf Vulcan Ammo Can Mod

This simple mod is another reason why we like the nerf vulcan

The biggest problem everyone has with owning the Nerf Vuclan is the fact that the belt only holds 25 darts. Ok some of you may be thinking this is not a problem but believe it really is because the vulcan fires so fast that you very quickly find yourself out of darts and vulnerable to counter attacks.

Solution, Modify the ammo box section so that it will hold the larger 50 dart belt.

Here's how to do that.

In this picture what you are basically looking at is a cookie tin or cracker tin that has been glued (choose which glue you prefer superglue or whatnot) to the underside of the Vulcan ammo box which has had it's bottom removed. The only FLAW is that it sometimes jams but hardly a problem especially when your now fully loaded with 50 darts baby.
