    Great list of netbooks. thanks

Netbooks are pretty good for simple word processing and other productivity applications. The only issue is that most don't have CD/DVD drives but that's starting to not be much of an issue nowadays with flash media taking over anyways. I'd want one not from Dell or any other company like HP because it probably comes with a lot of bloatware.

I'm considering a netbook for my 15 yr old but still trying to figure out just what they have...like a cd rom? Can she hook up her camera and still video chat etc.
Looks like some of these do have cd drives and some don't.

The Netbook is top of my Christmas list! Great information on the best Netbook of the year! Blessed. :)
  • cheech1981 Sep 5, 2011 @ 4:31 pm | delete
the only problem I have with netbooks is that the screen size, although of course useful for travel, is severely limiting. Most projects I work on require a couple of windows, and even dealing with a 15" screen can be a challenge!

Great list of netbooks. I only have a desktop (iMac) and would love an Apple netbook but don't want to pay for it!

There's much to consider when buying a new computer of any kind and this lens is very helpful. So far I bought 3 laptops from the same company - and decided not to do it again. Too many similar issues. Great resource, blessed! :)

I've always been a fan of the netbook realm. I have an older EeePC 900 (upgraded to a 16GB SSD and 2GB of memory) with Fedora 14 LXDE, and it has kept my urge to buy an iPad at bay. I love it! Light, compact, easy to travel with. Netbooks are definitely the way to go if you are looking for light computing needs with a small footprint.

Our son is just about to buy a Mac Book Air which he says only weighs 2.2 pounds. He is thrilled by the idea of the purchase--and the actual product will make him swoon!! Lol!!

The macBook also has frustration-free everything else. No viruses to worry about or the constant head-aches of other PCs. My vote is for the MacBook!

I ended up going with the Samsung, which I bought just before my trip to Nepal. I like the quality very much. I do want to get the memory upgrade, though, because, at 1GB, it's a bit too slow for me. Otherwise, though, I have no complaints. So, I'll lensroll this to mine about travel electronics, so people can look at other options here.

Paul my neighbor is selling a ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1005PE for 140.00 it is almost brand new you think I should go for it?
  • pkmcr Sep 6, 2010 @ 2:12 pm | delete
Very hard to say Steve because you need to think about what they have used it for and what condition it is in - the decision has to be yours
  • netbookguide Jul 4, 2010 @ 2:26 pm | delete
I purchased a Toshiba NB305. I am still thinking of the Asus 1005PE. Maybe one of the touchscreens... but that adds weight and lowers battery time. The other one I'm still tempted by is the MSI Wind.

This is an amazing review. I should have read this before getting one. The only problem I have with netbooks is the small screen. Sometimes, some websites even in the compatibility mode are hard to read. But with a new chip, they are often very powerful so surfing the net is very fast and easy. When you are travelling, it is great.
