I Love New Games!

I absolutely love to play games. Card games, puzzle games, board games, table games, dice games, word games... you get the point. Over the last few months, I have discovered some new games that are now on my permanent rotation of party games and hangout games. If you are looking for some great new games to play with the family or with friends, look no further!

This is an awesome dice game! My 11 year old brother and his friends even like to play it with me and my dad. Unfortunately, it's not available on Amazon, but you can get it at Canoe Games. Canoe Games is a small game company out of Seattle, WA, so though buying from there may not be local, it is supporting a small business rather than a box store. I hope to try their other games out sometime!

To play, everyone gets three cards which have sets of dice you are rolling for, similar to Phase 10. (For example, 2-4-6, or snake eyes.) Then, each player rolls two dice with the total amount of dice increasing as they go. We picked it up pretty quickly, and I taught the boy-kids how to play and they had no problems. There is a bit of score-keeping involved, but it's not too intense.

Quelf

Quelf is a crazy board game that could have you doing anything! Each square is a different color, which corresponds with a different type of card you draw. Then, the card will have you acting out something crazy, singing, using silly words, drawing a picture, or who knows what! My sister, Bil, and I played and had a blast! It's sort of similar to Cranium. So much fun!

It's a great party game, but I wouldn't play with more than about 8 people. We played with close to 20 one time, with everyone in teams of two, and it sort of got boring waiting for your turn.

Spot It

Spot It is a new twist on I-Spy. Each round card has several smallish pictures on it. At least one of these matches at least one on every single card in the deck. There are variations on how to play, but essentially, you try to match cards as quickly as you can. I played with my 11-year old brothers and my dad, and we had a blast!

The other great thing about this game is it is small. The game itself doesn't take up much space, and very little is required. It would make a great travel game for kids!

Old Favorites

These aren't new games, but they are still some of my favorite games to play! They are great at parties, game nights, and any other excuse you can come up with to play games.

    I like word and board games. The new games are worth trying though.
