many wonderful ideas, i would love to produce organic vegetables, unfortunately this year my tomatoes did blacken all of them. A neighbor told me i should have use milk and a bit of sugar to spary them after a rain, i will try next year.

I've never had such problem in my vegetable patch, the worst that happened with tomatoes is that they remained... green (certainly because of the constant rain and grey sky) :(

I have a small organic vegetable garden. We grow herbs, greens, tomatoes, peppers, squashes and peas. In raised boxes we grow spinach, lettuce and carrots. Our small property also includes several wild raspberry bushes so we have plenty of fresh organic fruit in the summer.

I grow my own herbs and some vegetables. Also I use salt for snails, if I didn't the leaves would be gone. I don't create my own compost but buy it. Can't use any chemicals because of what you mention about migraine, I get them very easily. I can't wait for spring! Great lens :)

I would love to try out organic gardening sometime and this page is an excellent resource for it. I'm bad at maintenance and reading your tips made me aware of what I was doing wrong. I'm afraid I've killed one too many seedlings by overwatering (since this is a warm country, I keep thinking the plants were thirsty like me lol). I will keep your advice in mind next time I attempt to grow vegetables again. (: ~Blessed~

Last year I tried the pesticide recipe with dishsoap and oil. It failed miserably on tomatoes. It also made the skin on the tomatoes look funky. I probably was too heavy on the trigger of my spray bottle. So, my advice is to use it sparingly or buy an insecticidal soap product.

Thank you for all the valuable information on this page. I am getting closer to being an organic gardener every day.

LOL. First time I tried the recipe on my Honeysuckle and flowers forgot to blossom and leaves became... white :( So, now I try to strictly stick to the recipe - and sometimes add less soap than advised. Next time I forgot about oil... leaves dried in no time like the dishes after having been washed :( Third time was the good one.
Actually the recipe should be adapted to our own type of plants and climate and southern climate isn't the same as northern, American is different from European...
Your welcome, Mickie and I'm honored with your visit to this page!
