Best Windows Registry Fixer

Learn how to pick the best registry fixer for your computer and use it to repair, optimize and fix the system registry. Download it for free on the page below.

There are literally hundreds of registry repair programs, many claiming to be the best in their fixing capabilities. The sad truth is, however, that a lot of this software is not only poorly working, but can actually damage the registry and mess up your operating system. That's why it's important to look for reviews on sites like Tucows or Download.com when choosing the best registry fixer and see what other users and experts say.

There is one registry fixing program that constantly gets top marks in every test. What's more, I've personally been a happy user of it for over 6 months now, so this great software from PC Tools is exactly what I'm going to recommend to anyone looking for the best registry cleaner and fixer.

Registry Mechanic Review

My personal opinion about the best registry fixer software.

Like I said in the introduction, I have personally been using Registry Mechanic for over 6 months now and couldn't be happier with it's performance. I originally installed RM to fix a certain problem that I was having with certain file associations that I couldn't solve otherwise. Not only did this program repair the error, it also improved Windows boot time noticeably, and has made my PC more responsive in certain situations. Now I run Registry Mechanic weekly or after uninstalling any software so it would clean up the unneeded registry entries it no doubt left after itself!

Now I realize I might sound like a fanboy here (if I do, that's only because RM saved me tons of trouble), but the beautiful thing about the internet is that you don't have to take my word for it. After all, I'm just an ordinary computer user (although one with a lot of experience) and not a tech expert. Head to the Registry Mechanic website instead and check out all the pretty badges that the tech sites considered the authority in their field awarded this software.

Warning: be careful about what kind of programs you install on your PC. See what other users and independent reviewers say about that software on trusted sites like Tucows first. Always test all programs using their free trial offers before paying for them.

Common Causes of Windows Registry Errors

System registry is a database which stores settings and other information for Microsoft operating systems such as Windows XP, Vista and the new Windows 7. It contains important information for computer hardware, the operating system itself and all software that is installed on the PC.

Since most programs modify the registry in one way or another (if you have to install a program, know that it already made entries in the registry), in time it grows and becomes fragmented, causing your computer to run slower. Some crucial registry entries might become malformed or deleted entirely due to changes made by malicious or poorly coded software and cause computer instability, various errors and even the loss of important data.

Use the recommended best registry fixer to take care of such errors before they can cause more trouble. Don't forget to also take steps to secure and protect your PC, preventing at least a part of registry problems from happening in the first place:

  • Use an antivirus and antispyware programs to protect your PC from malware and viruses. A large part of system registry problems are caused by computer viruses which modify it with malicious purposes. Running an antivirus monitor at all times will prevent viruses from causing any damage to your system.

  • Use a firewall to further protect your PC from online malware attacks and hackers. A free firewall such as home version of ZoneAlarm is recommended rather than the built-in Windows firewall since the latter only controls inbound traffic.

  • Use common sense: do not open suspicious e-mail attachments, double-check the URL of important sites such as bank, PayPal and e-mail accounts to prevent phishing, and be careful about what kind of software you install on your PC. I bet you have heard these basic tips before, but you'd be surprised at how many people still fall for these scams every day!

I hope you found my review of the best registry fixer - Registry Mechanic - as well as the tips for securing your computer useful. Feel free to leave a comment on your way out.

Registry Mechanic is a great tool, I agree. CCleaner is another tool that is extremely useful, especially for non-advanced users, and automatically fixes various types of registry mistakes. Thanks.

Fixing registry errors can be just impossible. If a fixer is capable of repairing things, good. If not, then nothing beats reinstall ;) In fact the best way to stay away from those errors is to use common sense when installing new software. Once you have a computer equipped with software you need, STOP experimenting. Or use a separate installation of Windows for that. Or better have a virtual one.

That's a great tip. One of my favorite "tricks" is installing a clean Windows, drivers and some essential software (for me, anyway) like OpenOffice, Firefox, uTorrent and SMPlayer. Then I make a complete backup of the whole thing. Now if everything fails I don't have to reinstall Windows and all software from scratch... Just import the backup and I have everything I need :)
