  • jesus coming signs May 21, 2012 @ 2:45 pm | delete
24 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25 Behold, I have told you before.

26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

    48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

    49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth

Sikhism is the best. its the youngest religion too. Hundreds of white people have converted to Sikhism( such as me). search it up on google images and google itself. the holy book was written by our prophet, unlike any other religion. the bible was written by a random person (he colud have made half of the stuff up). Sikhism is a true religion. well it depends on you if you want to be sikh, sikhism is a open religion anyone can join. Search Sikhism up on google and you will learn everything.

Islam has been the door for so many to a new clean life. It teaches to keep clean, physically and spiritually. Every day before praying, five times a day a Muslim must clean themselves. They must not smoke, drink alcohol, or tattoo themselves. This all leads to an unhealthy life. If you are wondering tattoos are in fact unhealthy. Muslims are not to eat pork due to it being a dirty, fatty, and unhealthy animal. It teaches to be peaceful to one another. It teaches to not fight with others and instead resolve the conflict peacefully. Islam teaches to respect one another. It teaches to not use fowl language or speak of a person behind their back. It teaches to care for family, friends, neighbors, and even those who dislike you. In Islam the greeting most commonly used is “Assalamualaikum”, meaning peace be upon you. The response to it is “Wallaikum Assalam”, meaning peace be upon you to.

    According to Muslim's holy book,Quran,
"There is no compulsion in the matter of religion"
As a practicing Muslim,I find myself unable to impose upon others that my religion is better or superior to any other religion.
But its a humble request that in this age of independent media, when we cant be sure of reliability of any info presented to us,kindly spare some time n energy to explore Islam yourself....before u draw any negative conclusions:). And the best way to know more about Islam is to just give a read to an AUTHENTIC translation of Holy Quran.
May we all be led to the straight path(Ameen)!!!

The word muslim means submitting oneself to the One and Only God, Allah, so anyone who submits him/herself to God and believes in all of he's Prophets is a muslim, so Islam is nothing new, its actually the oldest religion and only religion that was ever sent by Allah, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (may peace and the blessing of Allah be upon them) preached the same of word, the word of the Almighty Creator, it was the people after them that changed the names of the revelations, its a shame that the old scriptures has been altered but still, there are some where you can see they mentioned a last prophet would come and on some, from what i have seen with my own eyes, the Hindu scriptures and the Torah, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is mentioned my name :), so please brothers and sisters in humanity, stop listening the lies that the media tell you and stop judging Islam cause of a few so-called muslims, and look into the Quran and the Sunnah of the last and final Prophet.

    Peace from Norway :)

Religion is a people divider. The moment a person speaks about religion and the '-isms', it spells TROUBLE. The root of Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Hinduism etc. is Sanatana Dharma - It only teaches the way of life and is considered higher IMO. God is ONE for all living.
  • tiff0315 Apr 18, 2011 @ 10:15 am | delete
I wish I had a like button. I agree that it tends to be a people divider. I choose to keep my religion out of the online world because of biases and misunderstandings about my faith. I would hate to be judged by my religion, rather than my merits.
  • SAMI Nov 11, 2011 @ 2:11 am | delete
If Sanatana Dharma teaches God is only one then why Hinduism worships unlimited idols. In the same way, Sikhism prays at graves, Buddhists pray Bhuddh's idol which is an open mistake.

all religions are equal but Sikhism is best . because they had fight to save other religions . in Sikhi all religions are being respected and Sikhs believe in one god. our ninth guru sri guru teg bahadur ji gave his own life for kashmiri pandits with five other Sikhs . in Sikhism there are no beliefs of differentiation in poor people and rich ones we all ate including poor in "guru ka langar" and men and women are equal which is a big point in this world and no practices for woman like sati e.c.t. . so i am proud to be a Sikh

The best religion is one that can prove to you by direct experience in this birth
the existence of god by following whatever spiritual practice they preach.
I was born a sikh but there are no more sikh gurus alive that can teach the "practice".
So one has to find (or be found ;-) a perfect teacher/prophet/guru whatever you want to call him or her . He could be born in any part of the world to be frank and their are usually never more than 1 or 2 in the world at any one time ;-)
All religions teach one how to live a moral life so in that respect their all good. Some people are happy with that others want to experience a mystical experience of "god". So its all about what your comfortable with. Personally i think most religions create confusion now. but i guess if your looking then its a sign that your seeking something higher which is good. A few points to following on selecting a religion or whatever mystical-spiritual school you want to try:-
    1) if they ask for you to give up your family , wealth then its bullshit..run a mile
    2) if its a mystical school with a guru and the guru does not earn his own livelihood but instead lives off the donations of disciples..run aways its bullshit...not matter how spiritual its adherents are
    3) if they spend half there time slagging of other religions and how they are the best and last religion of the world...run a mile..no matter how kind, good etc its followers appear.
    4) if all they can teach is how to live a moral life then run a mile..you dont need a religon for that.

    5) if all the above are satisfied then you you should consider the following questions.
    6) if the religion or mystical school concentrates calming you mind to allow your soul to be free via spiritual excercise that even a young child can follow then its worth investigating further. above all treat it like a scientific experment..i.e it can be proved by conducting the experiment in the quiteness of your own head. ;-)

my hands are getting tired now...
remember one thing though.... dont use the power of NUMBERS to decide which religion/path is the current best one to follow. Only a few are ever ready to follow/experience the TRUTH in each partical time period.[most religons now are just used to control and its human instinct to feel a belonging to something anyway .

If you dont find it then just lead a good clean moral life and do no harm to others by deed , thought or instigation under whatever religion/path you have been culturally born into..
eventuall the universe will answer your call in a future life or lives ;-)
    respect all peoples choices.

    good luck.

Hard question, Katinka. As Christian by fact and not by faith and as protective of my culture, I'd say Christianity is the best religion in the world as I'm not that arrogant to pretend it's the best in the Universe as some do.

However, I don't believe or at least, I'm not sure God would exist as whenever if he did, there wouldn't be as many wars, violence nor he would allow people to kill in his name; whatever name he has.

If such a subject wasn't that hot and wouldn't make me to protect my own culture and religion, I'd say that no religion is the best, the best religion is what you do with it, the way you understand it, the way you act in its name.

Therefore, the best you do, the more positive and the more love you bring, the less violence, and the more you protect life and individual freedom, the best you do of your religion.

I think they are all the same thing. I think there is one God and that we know very little of him. We are given little hints. Each area of the world has been given little hints, and has spread them by word of mouth and later through the written word. Different parts of the world have interpreted those hints differently and that has lead to different religions.

It's my opinion that religions are based on the exact same concept...finding peace within yourself and trying to explain what happens after death...nobody really knows. The great Thomas Aquinas said it best "We Don't See God Because We Think We Know Too Much About Him. God Is Unknowable."

    Marvelously put.

Besides,God is merely a word, is it not? The word is not the thing. You're worshiping the word, not God. One must drop their concept...might I add childish concept of God, then one sees Him.

"I was blind but now I see"

    Remember that phrase.

"God Does Not Die On The Day We Deny His Existence, But We Die On The Day Our Lives Cease To Be Illumined By A Wonder And A Radiance Of Which Noone Can Describe." former secretary general Mark Hamishir

John Lennon wrote and sang, "God is a concept by which we measure our pain."

I'm not aware of any religion that doesn't have at least a little blood on its hands. Don't think there is a "best" one.

Suggest reading "God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything" (2007) a critique of religion by author and journalist Christopher Hitchens. It's quite the book.

Very brave lens! Love your take on this. In my view the ideal religion is that the world is in a state that we don't need religion. In Christian terms, Adam and Eve didn't have a religion, they were just God's children and could communicate directly with the Divine (until they Fell, got kicked out of the Garden of Eden, and needed religion to connected to God). That's how humankind should be - living in harmony and peace together with God and all creation. No need for religion, rituals, doctrinal squabbles. Just human beings true to themselves, living happily in this world and the next.

I am going with there is not one. However, I do not think it is because one believes this and another believes that. I have a difficult time with religions. I normally would say that I am of the Christian variety but after reading your post about Theosophists I need to do some reading. My beliefs are not acceptable to the Christian church. They believe that if I do not change I am going to hell. Well, I am not of the opinion that I am the one that needs to change. So what am I? I will be back to read more of your lenses. I am usually very put off by religious discussions but this lens was great. Thanks for the info.

You are very brave with this one. It's a touchy subject. I hope you find what you are looking for. All the best.

There is not one. Even Bahai has dogma. It also exoterically rejects some/most Theosophy and its ideas that are in Dharma, etc.. Its founders did not have the amount of ahimsa as most farther Eastern religious founders are said/known to have had, but Bahaullah's son may have had. Bahai's idea of accepting all Asian 'great' religions is good, but it would probably reject paganism. Sometimes the statement 'Theosophy is a religion' can be true, and sometimes a statement any religion on this list is not a religion can be true--because they have dogma. Even when Theosophy is a religion--like people accepting most/all HPBs statements (whether they accept them with enough skepticism) including about White Lotus Day--it can still be called 'perennial Philosophy,' i.e. 'eternal law' (a 2nd definition of it after 'Hinduism.') That is the best 'religion.' It occurs in most religions except dogmatic sects. It has a specific set of reasonable ideas common to most religions.

Hi, only three people voted so far, so I don't think the poll is very representative just yet. I'm not a Bahai, I'm a theosophist. Theosophy isn't on that list because it's not A religion, it's the essence of all religion. Theosophists are free to believe what they will.
