Most Retirees 'Will Look For Other Retirement Jobs'
A survey for the nation's largest job site, CareerBuilder.com finds that one in five employers (22%) say that given the shortage of qualified workers, they are planning to rehire retirees from other companies in 2008.
Meanwhile, 14% of employers said they were looking at how to provide incentives for older workers to stay with the company longer.
The survey comes as CareerBuilder launched PrimeCB.com, a job search site aimed at connecting experienced and retired workers with potential employers.
Perhaps you can avoid having to work someone else in a retirement job if you want to be self-employed in the area of Writing and Self-Publishing as I have for years.

Start a High- Tech Company as One of Your Retirement Jobs or Retirement Businesses
Entrepreneurship Can Lead to Your Own Retirement Job
This comes from a Press Release in May 2008.While Apple, Microsoft and Dell all were founded by 20-something (or younger) wunderkinds, most high-tech startups are launched by 50-somethings.
A new study found that "middle-aged, well-educated" entrepreneurs launch twice as many technology companies as entrepreneurs in their 20s.
The study by Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and researchers at Duke and Harvard universities found that the average founder of a technology company was 39 when the company started.
Twice as many U.S.-born technology entrepreneurs start companies in their 50s than in their early 20s, according to the study.
The study also found that tech startups founded by older, better educated leaders do better.
The study found that an average startup in 2005 had revenue of about $5.7 million and employed of 42 people.
Startups established by founders with advanced Ivy-League degrees had higher average sales -- $6.7 million -- and employed 55.
Founders with high school degrees recorded average sales of $2.2 million and employed 18 workers, according to the study.
"Because entrepreneurship is an indicator of economic vitality in regions and across the country, this study raises important policy questions about how to foster greater tech entrepreneurship to boost economic growth," Robert Litan, vice president of research and policy at the Kauffman Foundation, said in a statement.
"Probably the most compelling fact in the study is that advanced education is critical to the success of tech startups."
Why Becoming a Consultant or a Franchisee Is Not One of the Best Retirement Jobs
Changed Already - Okay to Use
More than 50 percent of individuals who have left their main career to pursue a retirement job or retirement business have left professional and management careers; 30 percent are now in the field of education, according to an Encore Career Survey. When it comes to selecting one of many retirement jobs or pondering a post-retirement career, the field of consulting is one chosen by many retirees. Problem is, how many consultants can the market absorb?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the amount of consultants will increase 22 percent between 2006 and 2016. Perhaps too many workers are staying in their field and bringing their decades of knowledge and experience with them to work as a management consultant.
If are expecting a consulting business to help you generate a great income in retirement, do a lot of research before you dive in. The same is true of other retirement businesses such as owning a franchise, says Chris Fahlund of T. Rowe Price.
"We've seen people buy franchises with the thought that this isn't really spending money, but investing, because they are putting it into a business to make money," she says.
The major problem, Fahlund claims, is that a lot of franchises end up being duds, and retirees lose a lot of capital in the process.
Facts That May Help You Discover New Retirement Businesses

An estimated 950,000 Canadians would like to start a business within the year says research done by RBC Financial Group.
40% of Canadians think entrepreneurship is the most rewarding career option, according to a 2005 poll by Leger Marketing.
There are 2.5 million businesses in Canada. 97% of them are small businesses. Plus, 56% of Canadians work for Small to Medium sized companies, all of this according to Stats Canada.
Self-employment is growing fastest among young Canadians (age 15-24) and older Canadians (age 55+), says Stats Canada.
'Seniorpreneurs' account for ¼ of self employed people in Canada, and 30% of the total workforce over 55.
Growth in small business at 3.7% annually, is outpacing the economy as a whole. The strongest growth for small business is in urban areas, and more than 60% of small businesses are in urban centers.
In the next decade, there will be a 10-20% increase in the number of small business firms in Canada.
