Quality RO/DI Units from Aqua-Safe

If you have a saltwater aquarium, you need high-quality water for your fish and invertebrates to live healthy and at their fullest potential. A good reverse-osmosis unit, such as one from Aqua-Safe Systems, is an affordable and reliable source of pure and crystal clear water for aquarium use, drinking, and much more.

What is a Reverse Osmosis Unit?

Benefits of using a reverse osmosis unit for filtering water

Reverse osmosis units filter everything from water besides the water itself--so all viruses, microbes, bacteria, everything--leaving the water that passes through them spotless and as pure as pure can get.

Aqua-Safe Units are proven to remove 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, and other harmful substances from tap water--including chlorine! These substances that are harmless to humans are often deadly to aquariums, and without a quality RO/DI unit such as from Aqua-Safe to filter them out, they could make their way into your aquarium and wreak havoc.

Since getting an Aqua-Safe system, my aquarium has never been happier. I was at first using less-pure water, and my aquarium's inhabitants really hurt because of that. When I switched to RODI water it seemed like everything in the tank was reborn.

How Does an RO-DI Unit Work?

How a reverse osmosis unit filters water

RO-DI units consist of several stages, with a different form of filtration at each stage. For example when water flows through my unit, it first passes through 3 charcoal filters, followed by the membrane itself. The membrane (main filter) has pores so small that not even viruses can pass through (and viruses are pretty much the smallest organisms).

Once water has cleared the membrane, it passes through a DI or de-ionization chamber, where some more filtration takes place, and finally it goes through the final filter for finishing touches. The end result? Pure, pristine water.

Aquarium creatures need pristine water to be healthy. The ocean is the actually one of the most stable, clean environments in the world. The animals that live in it rarely experience changes in conditions. The same stable and unchanging environment in a saltwater aquarium is absolutely necessary.
