The Best Professional and Photo Scanners of 2012

AND THE BEST SCANNER OF 2012 IS...

  1. The Epson V300 Perfection Scanner: no wonder it was number 2 on Amazon sales rank, and the best scanner of 2011. This is hands down the best model you can find on the market right now, at a incredible price of $70 that complements all the features and quality.

If you ever thought that Epson scanners were bad, because you tried them as part of their multifunction printers, you're definitely going to be proved wrong, just as it happened to me.

Between the standard scanner in a Epson multifunction printer and this device there's an abysm of difference in quality, even in the Epson Scan software. The program doesn't freeze and you have more options to adjust your scanned image or document to look great.

At a 4800x9600 optical resolution, you won't have to complain about anything. The lid cover can be lifted and moved up to a 180 degree angle that will allow you to scan large books and 3D objects. The design is practical and doesn't look to be fancy, but rather does its job in a reliable way.

That's why all it has is four buttons. You can scan directly to the file format you establish, scan directly into PDF files, scan directly into a file that attaches itself to emails, and scan in a print file.

Another great feature is that you can scan 35mm slides and negatives through the transparency unit, which the Epson Scan software handles greatly, with no complications at all. You can create enlargements up to 13x19 inches.

  2. Canon LiDE100 Color Image Scanner: Canon doesn't really get behind with this model that allows to 19600x19600 dpi extrapolation scans. It is also the fastest scanner around, at 18-24 seconds it recognized the type of document you want to scan automatically and that's it.

    Photobucket

Although it's true that it doesn't offer the same versatility that Epson does with its Epson Scan software, the quality is outstanding and practical at 2400x4800 dpi, and four buttons that simplify everything. You either copy, scan, convert directly to PDF, or email.

There's also the automatic feature for old photos. Its built-in retouching technology can enhance your scans of older photos with automatic reductions for dust and scratches, fading, graininess and backlighting. The level of correction can be adjusted to match the condition of your originals.

For $60 you can't get better than this. Also the cord is the same that provides you both power and USB connection.
