Mia Bella Gourmet Candles: The Best Scented Candles Ever

Our candles are Made in the USA from a proprietary and unique wax blend crafted from an alternative plant/vegetable wax.

It is often a misconceived notion that our candles are soy-based, which they are not. In the beginning, our company did manufacture a soy-based candle but it was found that the properties in soy caused the scent to rise to the top when heated. This meant your candle smelled stronger in the beginning and the scent diminished with it's burn time.

Mia Bella Gourmet Candles have been a plant/vegetable wax candle for many years. Or at least longer than I've been with the company anyhow. I began my business with them in April 2005.

What are some of the benefits of this plant vegetable wax?

Take a look at the picture in this segment. This is a jar candle that I had been burning in my home.

You have burned jar candles right? They are one of the most popular forms of candle because they are self-contained and that means less wax mess.

Less wax mess is a plus. But the downside to jar candles has always been the black soot they emit on the side of the jars.

Think back to the last few jar candles you burned:

Did you have to do what I call "Candle Surgery"? Were you wiping your jars out because they looked black and icky on the sides? Did you shade the candle to prevent that black sooty buildup only to have it inside that candle shade? Did the candle burn uneven? Tunnel through the middle leaving wax waste on the sides of your jars? Did you ever play with the wax, scrape it down or try to even out the candle? I'm sure you are saying "Yes" here because I remember doing that.

Our candle wax blend means no black sooty mess! You don't want to shade a Mia Bella Candle (it's not recommended) nor is there a need because you don't have that icky mess to contend with. You want it open for great scent throw! I was amazed when I began to experience them because I'd never had a candle burn that nice before. Clean jars with no mess and such a clean, even burn top to bottom. And oh the smell! The scent throw is incredible!

As an admitted candle-holic my whole life, once I experienced the Mia Bella Difference I became a self-appointed "Candle Snob". I could no longer burn those jars that got black and icky!

Did you know that this plant/vegetable wax blend cleans up with hot, soapy water when spilled? Have you ever scraped, frozen, tried to pop out wax and all the rituals you go through with a traditional candle? Do you have a wax melter or tart burner? How do you clean that?

I love the melts and tarts and have always used them in my home. Our plant/vegetable wax blend makes cleanup a breeze. I simply dump out the remainder of the wax I'm disposing of into a styrofoam coffee cup, let solidify and throw it right into the trash. From there I take my simmer pot or tart burner and clean it with boiling water from my tea kettle. I swish the water around, add a little soap and then rinse. And, wuala it's clean! No freezing, chipping, popping out wax and no mess which I love!

In late 2004 I began to look for a home based business. One I could be proud of and products that I'd be proud to represent.

Candles were the perfect answer because I loved them anyway! After seeing how a Mia Bella Candle performed, I simply had to be a part of this company!

Everyone likes to save money right? I am no exception. So how then do I think a candle with a suggested retail price of $18.95 is the BEST value for my money? Let me explain....

At first glance, less expensive seems better but you really need to do your homework. I firmly believe that based on quality, scent throw and home fragrancing results and burn time that our candles are the BEST value in the marketplace. And here's why....

First, let's talk about quality. There are dollar store candles, their are discount store candles and so on up the line. The old adage "You get what you pay for" comes into play here. Have you ever tried those inexpensive dollar and discount store candles? I have! What kind of scent did it provide for your enjoyment or in your household? In my experience, some of them smelled great before they burned but once they were lit I couldn't smell them at all.

With a Mia Bella Candle, you get consistent quailty every time. The scent throw when it's burning is incredible. One jar can fragrance the main body of my whole house.

Which brings us to the home fragrancing results and burn time considerations. Years back, I burned a scented candle that came from one of the nationally known discount stores. I really liked it and for years I actually thought I was saving money because of the discount store mentality. They were sold in pillar form and would burn about 60 hours each.

Well the deal was this: it took three of those pillars to get a good scent throw going and fragrance the main body of my home. And these pillars were a great bargain at $8.97 each.

But were they really?

To purchase the three pillars I needed to get that great home fragrance going actually cost me $26.91 plus tax at this discount store. Remember I said I got about 60 hours burn out of them too.

So let's do the math:

$26.91 for 3 divided by 60 hours burn time = 0.4485 cents per hour

So you might still be thinking "Not bad, that's less than 45 cents per hour.

That's where doing the math really makes all the difference.

A Mia Bella Gourmet Candle has a suggested retail of $18.95. It takes one jar to provide the fragrance throw I prefer (not three as mentioned above). Depending on burn conditions, our jars are a greater value because of their longer burn time. On average, our 16 ounce jars burn 80 hours.

So you do the math. It all adds up to being a smart consumer and don't you just like a greener product at the same time?

When I show this to my customers they are amazed. We have been so programmed by Retail America that cheaper is better, that discount stores provide the best value etc.

A savvy consumer often compares apples-to-apples and price-to-price when shopping for necessities like food etc. They realize that sometimes the cheap bulk prices at the discount clubs or stores are actually more expensive than the local grocery chain when they do the math.

As a consumer, most of us can price compare on that level when it comes to the necessities.
