    Well, for a list of best sci-fi though some are great you are missing many of the really good ones and many on there are mindless action films that masqueade as sci-fi

    Off the top of my head: 2001, 2010, Inception, Planet of the apes (original), 12 monkeys, Brazil, Gattaca, The Thing, Predator, Starship Troopers, Donnie Darko, Mad Max, Invasion of the body snatchers, Escape from NY and Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai.... I am sure I missed a lot.

    Besides that great job...sorry if I seem critical

    kool suggestions and i've seen most of the, as for mindless action films masquerading assci fi, whatever can you mean :)

    Actually, i know opinions vary on this, for example , the new Star trek does not appear on my list, yet Transformers does :)

    My favorites would probably be Gataca, The Last Starfighter, and The Fifth Element -- all for different reasons.

    LOTR is not science fiction and Star Wars isn't either. The most annoying thing about science fiction these days is all of the people that either don't know or don't care what it is.

    The people making money off whatever they call sci-fi don't really care.
