What Kind of Watch Suits You?
How To Choose The Perfect Piece
When buying a women's watch, there are many things to consider. Honestly, most women should probably own at least three watches, which we will go over, but the truth is, most women prefer one watch over another and will wear it regardless of what they're doing.
My wife is a professional that works in a corporate office building. She own a watch that is thin and blends into her outfit for the day. When we dine out, she puts on a flashier watch that says something about her personality. On the weekend, she'll wear a throw-around kind of watch. One that doesn't matter if she bangs it against the car or take it into a pool.
Ask Yourself the Following Questions:
1) What is my price point?
Not to say you can't get a quality watch without breaking the bank, but it's important to realize before you buy a watch that for anything with some substance of quality, you're going to have to spend at least a few hundred dollars. Don't be fooled by "nice looking" watches that are $50. They are junk and will not last.
You can get a decent quality watch for well under $500, but that's up to you. Watches sell for every price imaginable - you just have to decide where you stand.
2) What materials do I prefer?
Do I like a leather band? How about a metal bracelet? Is gold my style, or stainless steel? Am I looking for a jeweled inner working 12 diamond face, or will a simple white dial do the job?
These are questions that one must ask before going shopping. The truth is to all these questions is - yes. Leather bands are great. They can be formal or informal. Jewels are going to be flashy and should be contained to watches that you want to show off - to flaunt yourself. White and blacks simple faces are conservative, while gold is traditional.
3) Is this an investment piece?
For most of us, the answer is no. Some watches however, do go up in value. For example, it's common that a well taken care of Rolex will hold it's own and increase in value over time. On the other hand, if you're watch isn't a collectible or rare, simply take care of it and know that it can last a lifetime. Perhaps it will be something you hand down to a family member, or use the rest of your life.
4) Am I looking for a universal watch, or several depending on the situation?
I talked about my personal situation above, but you must ask yourself this question. If you're looking for a single watch, I would recommend something conservative, yet fun. Perhaps a TAG Heuer. They are incredibly well built, timelessly styled, and are in the middle-of-the-road when it comes to price. Choose a dial color that suits you and stick with stainless steel links. If that's not your style, but you still want a single watch, I would go for a nice brown leather banded watch. Anything else is so situationally specific that it's hard to wear it in any setting.
5) What is my personal style?
Are you flashy? Are you conservative? Outdoorsy? Cube Dweller?
Whatever your style, pick a watch that compliments it. There's no need for someone who spends most of their time in a cubicle to have a diamond crusted watch unless that style is specific towards them. Or a farmer to wear a Rolex (ok well my Grandfather did, but...). Watches should be practical. A nightclub owner wearing a calculator watch simple will not do. You get my drift.
Whatever your style, always comparison shop when choosing a watch. Personally, I'm a big Amazon believer. There is almost any watch conceivable there, most backed by full warranties and easily returnable. What I like most is that there is no tax and shipping generally is free or inexpensive.

Michael Kors Women's Silver Runway Watch
Reviewers say: This is a beautiful, expensive looking watch. I searched high and low for a chrongraph that looks sleek and modern, not frilly and overdone and this one fits the bill perfectly.
The first thing to note is that it is LARGE and heavy! I love the look, but it definitely looks more like a men's watch. On my super-tiny wrist the face almost covers the front of my wrist, with just one link showing on either side. Again, this is the look I was going for but be aware it is large. Also, be prepared to get links taken out. Of course this is standard procedure for this type of watch, but the way this one came was even too large for my boyfriend.
On the wrist this watch is very shiny and eye-catching without being too "blingy" as it does not have any sparkle. If you're looking for big chunky watch that looks much more expensive than it really is, I think this is an excellent choice.
Toy Watch - Classic Collection
One of our most popular sellers
Had to have it after seeing it in the Blindside! In the fall of 2005, Milan-based designer and wristwatch aficionado Marco Mavilla designed the first TOYWATCH. A lightweight, oversized plastic watch, inspired by high design timepieces, TOYWATCH is unexpected, arresting and irreverent. Under the direction of fine-watch collector and TOYWATCH USA CEO, Randy Gordon, TOYWATCH was brought to the USA in the summer of 2006. An anti-luxury statement in a luxury obsessed culture, TOYWATCH has become the "it" wristwatch and the "must-have" item among style influentials and tastemakers. The brand ignited a firestorm in the fashion, design and accessories industries and has been heralded as a sensation by the press. TAG Heuer Women's Aquaracer
TAG Heuer traces its roots to the small Swiss village of St-Imier where, in 1860, a watchmaker named Edouard Heuer opened his first shop. His vision was to create remarkable timepieces that pushed the envelope of innovation and precision. The company's reputation grew, and Heuer's first patent for a chronograph mechanism in 1882 was followed by a long list of achievements: the first stopwatch accurate to 1/100 of a second, the first dashboard stopwatch for race cars, the first miniature electronic timekeeping device accurate to 1/1000th of a second, and the first automatic movement with a microrotor, to name just a few.Over the years, Heuer's reputation for gold-standard precision earned the company the privilege of providing official timing services for a number of world-class competitive sporting events, including the Olympic Games, the FIS Ski World Cup, and the FIA Formula 1 World Championships. To this day, TAG Heuer maintains a close association with the world of competitive sports and enjoys a devoted following among sports celebrities and enthusiasts. In 1985, Heuer joined the TAG (Techniques D'Avant-Garde) group, and the TAG Heuer name and logo were created. Now one of the most recognized and sought-after watch brands in the world, TAG Heuer continues its reputation of innovative design and technological excellence, creating prestigious timepieces that are always at the cutting edge of precision, reliability and style.
Michael Kors Women's Ritz Tortoise Watch
Tortoise is a neutral that works with every style. The knurled gold-tone topring adds a chic textural touch; the crystal markers make it glam. This watch caught my eye immediately while I was looking on line for a watch. I have received so many compliments on this watch. It goes with everything. Even when I wear silver, I am able to incorporate it into my outfit.I loveeeee this watch. I wear it all day everyday and still can't believe I got it at such a low price (especially the tortoise shell). I've received so many compliments on it. Goes with black or brown can dress it down or dress it up! This watch is awesome. For once I made a right call to get this watch (usually I'll wait to see if there are any better deals... then severely regret later)!
