Do your Feet Hurt After Standing All Day?

I am a retail manager and love everything about my job except the standing on my feet part, because after working a long day, my feet hurt. Often my feet wouldn't hurt until after I got home and than sat down for a few minutes. Then they would stiffen up and really throb. I would also have pain in my knees and legs. But quitting my job wasn't a option. So I needed to find a solution.

So I started to do some research on what other people who stand for long hours do. And I learned that when you have a job where you need to stand on your feet all day, you don't need to suffer. You just need a really good pair of shoes. So here is my list of the top shoes for retail workers.

I'm a Bank Teller & our bank does not allow fatigue mats so we're standing on carpeted concrete all day. We have stools but are not allowed to sit on them when customers are in the bank. Th powers that be should have to stand all day & maybe they would make some changes.

Yes, on my feet in a store 7-9 hours a day. I have bunions and hammer toes. Why can't retail workers sit on high stools? We can see the customers and I feel would be better employees if we weren't always in pain. Retail needs to rethink their position on this. It is abuse what they do to their workers.

I used to be in retail and once as a teen I worked in a large department store that would not let us sit at our counter - ever - which I think is insane and worker abuse. I used to hobble home in tears, and have foot problems to this day because of that stupid job. Wish they had issues shoes that could have helped our feet survive their job!

After working many years in retail I can tell you that it is really important to invest in a good pair of walking shoes. I personally prefer the New Balance brand of shoes. They are really worth every penny! I own this exact shoe except in black to match my uniform at work. I ordered it in wide so it fits my foot really well. This is the shoe I recommend to anyone who works in retail on their feet.

These shoes take a lot of wear and tear. I purchased my New Balance Shoes in March of 2011 and now almost a year later they still feel and look great! They feel just like I just purchased them. These are for sure the best shoes for standing as I am on my feet 12 hours a day several times a week.

I have a masters degree of nursing, and im working at oncology institute. Im standing on my feet 8 hrs/day and i sure do know what it means when your feet hurt and feel heavy... Comfy shoes is "must have" in my case...

I don't have a job in which I stand all day, but the little standing I do in high heels hurts me! It's hard to find a comfortable pair of shoes; I will look into some of these options for my off days to give me time to recover!

My mom stands all day, but she's not allowed to wear tennis shoes. Her feet always hurt. I feel so bad for her... :(
