Sun Posters: a Solstice Holiday Gift
Ranked #4,583 in Holidays & Celebrations, #75,451 overall
Solstice Pictures for Your Solstice Celebration
The Solstice is also known as "Yule". The holiday has a lot in common with Christmas, which is even called "Yule" in some parts of the world. Many Christmas traditions derive from older European traditions, and gift-giving is one of these. If a friend or family member or friend celebrates the Winter Solstice, why not get them a sun-themed holiday gift?
For that matter, most winter holidays are about celebrating light and hope at the darkest time of the year. A sun-themed gift makes a wonderful Hanukkah or Christmas present too!

Posters make a great gift for Pagans because we tend to be visual people. Religious objects that we can see can help us meditate or get us inspired. Sun posters make a great Solstice gift because the sun is an important part of Paganism or any earth-centered religion -- not just at the Solstices and Equinoxes, but all year round.
The posters below are sun posters of all kinds. Whether your Pagan likes smiling suns, abstract suns, or drawings of the sun from old alchemical writings, there's something here for them.
Most of of them are available in different sizes and prices, to fit any size space or any budget. Some posters are as small as 9'x12', while others are full wall murals! Whether your loved one has a small space or a huge one, you can choose something that fits.
Even better, AllPosters doesn't just sell posters. Most of their images are available as photographic prints, premium photo prints, and photo prints on canvas. If you want to give something more permanent than a poster, these prints are the perfect option.

Day of the Dead Sun
What gives life, can take life.
Seem a little macabre? Perhaps. But it's also a very rich metaphor. As I said earlier, balance is an important part of Paganism. The sun is balanced externally by the moon, but it has its own internal balance too: its warmth and light make life on earth possible, but its heat can also bring drought and death. This image captures that balance perfectly.

Norse Mythology: the Sun and Moon are Chased Across the Skies
Solstice Ragnarok
Many modern Pagans derive their practice from Norse traditions, and would appreciate a gift like this illustration of the Sun (Sol) and Moon (Mani) being chased across the sky by Repulsion (Skoll) and Hate (Hati).
Yes, it's grim. But Norse mythology is like that.

Aurora Borealis: The Winter Lights of Solstice
by Timothy Sorsdahl
Well, though it's technically not a solar image, the aurora borealis is a solar phenomenon. These stunning waves of color are caused by charged particles from the sun's radiation colliding with the upper atmosphere. The word "aurora" is also associated with the sun; she was the Roman goddess of the dawn.
Also called the northern lights, the aurora borealis is a gorgeous part of the Solstice season. Perhaps it's compensation for the long, long nights of the northern latitudes!
This abstract painting captures the brilliant colors and life-like energy of the aurora borealis reflected in the snow. Posters featuring the northern lights make a great Solstice gift for the astronomically inclined Pagan.

- Absolutely do not enjoy the "Day of the Dead" poster. I enjoy watching "CBS Sunday Morning" every weekend to see what sun illustrations and art they find.
