Best Storm Door with Retractable Screen

This Larson Storm Door Has a Retractable Screen
The best storm door that I've ever purchased was a retractable screen door by Larson. Having a retractable screen allows so much freedom and flexibility, in letting the air in or keeping it out. Used efficiently, it can also offer energy savings.
If it's been too warm of a day and the night air is cooling off, I can save on running the air conditioner and pull the screen down to let the cool night air in.
If it's getting to cold, I can push the screen back up. Basically, whatever the weather, I can easily adjust the screen to be more accommodating to our energy savings, and benefit to our comfort.
The model that we own is a Larson door. We purchased the model that has a lever that supports the window when the screen is in the all the way up position.

No, I've had mine for x months/year, and it doesn't work right.
It was time to replace the old storm door.
Some ScreenAway Doors have a Support Lever for when the Screen is Up.
My door has a support lever for the window, so the weight of it won't pull down the screen. Perhaps this is why I am more satisfied with the door that I have than the people who have wrote in.
Where does the screen go in retractable screen storm doors?
How does the window stay up?
When the top window is in the all the way up position, there is a mechanism that you can flip, that comes out under the bottom of the top window and supports it.
The Screen Away Storm Door saves me energy
I actually purchased the full window style in the 32 inch width. I can have the screen be in the upper half any time of the year or day that I want, or I can have it be all glass. I have noticed that we use both the heater and the air conditioner less since we can more easily adjust our inside temperature with adjusting the retractable screen. Saving energy is not only great for us, it's great for the environment too.
We chose the full view so that our cat can still easily see out, without the door having to be open, when there's too much of a temperature difference between what's outside and what's inside.
Sugar likes our retractable screen storm door

Especially when it's open!

- You know, I think we had something like this when I lived in Ohio. Right now, I just have a regular window door on my Florida Room. Very practical.

- Oh, I am so glad you wrote this article! I have wondered about these screens. My puppys want to go out at some of the most inopportune times, like when I am reading lenses :) I never trust the paid advertisements, but I definitely trust you to tell me the truth. Awesome!

- Great door for the first 6 months, then both screen door closers broke, and now the spring inside broke and the screen part separated from the glass door part. We're stuck with a door that's half wide open like a barn door (no screen any more, and the glass half can't be lifted up). Larson customer service won't replace anything.

- Same thing happened to us with the door. Screen won't retract and when I contacted Larson I was told that about all i could do to fix it was order a new screen for $40. The door is only 6 months old. We were happy with the door until this happened.
