Are Stun Guns Legal in Illinois?
Many people wonder if stun guns and/or tasers are legal in their state. Many states have either partial or total restrictions on these stun guns, while some states have absolutely no restrictions. Tasers are actually a certain type of stun gun; they work in the same way. What do volts mean?
When you're looking for a type of self defense protection, you may look to buy stun guns for various reasons. They're non-lethal, meaning they usually don't cause death, they're easy to use and carry, and they're very affordable.These stun weapons can range from 100,000 to over 4.5 million volts, that seems like a giant range, so how do you decide? The question you need to answer is how fast do you want to incapacitate your attacker? The more volts, the quicker the job gets done.
Also, besides just looking at the stun gun volts, look at the stun gun itself. How are the volts being "delivered" to your attacker? Are there prongs that stick out, are there smaller contacts, or is there just a piece of metal that will touch?
If there are prongs, you can probably get by with a lower voltage because the current will be more direct.
Bottom line is think about where you go and how you would actually use one of these zap guns. Would you carry it in your hand, keep it in your purse or pocket, what kind of people are around you, and what time of day would you need it?
