1. The toy needs to hold the toddler's attention. Choose toys with bright colors, bright reds, yellows, greens, and blues really catch a toddler's eye. Pick a toy with several bright colors. Color is the most important thing for holding a young child's attention.2. Another primary concern is your toddler's safety. Check the toy for small or loose parts that may fall of and become a choking hazard for young children. Make sure you check the age recommendation of the toy you've selected for your toddler. You want to select toys recommended for ages 3 and under, to avoid small parts.
3. Toys that make noise or do something when the toddler interacts with them are often amusing to young children. If your toddler can squeeze it, squeak it, or make it go you'll have a toddler toy favorite.
4. The last thing you need to consider is the size of the toy. Do not buy small children toys for toddlers; they do not appreciate them much, and it can also be a choking hazard if the toy fits into the child's mouth. At the same time, the toy should not be so big that the child finds it difficult to grasp.
