My Favorite Toilet Bowl Plunger

Let me tell you about my favorite toilet bowl plunger. I also think that it is the best toilet bowl plunger on the market. It is the Oxo Good Grips 2209600 Round Toilet Plunger and Canister. It ain't pretty, but it is worth its weight in gold.

The Oxo Good Grips Toilet Plunger has a nice hard plastic handle so it will not soak up any water. It also has a large rubber plunger with a lower lip that fits well into the drain. When you push down on the plunger, water is less likely to squirt out from the sides. The full force of the plunge goes into clearing the clog.

The canister that holds the Oxo Good Grips Plunger comes with a fitting lid that pops open when you pull up on the plunger. It also has a couple of vents on the side so any water can evaporate out.

The Oxo Good Grips Plunger is the bomb for toilets. You will love it.

Your Plunger is Nasty

When was the last time you cleaned your toilet bowl plunger? I hate to admit it, but after plunging the toilet, cleaning the floor, and then getting all of those filthy dripping towels down the hall to the washing machine, the last thing I want to do is wash and disinfect the plunger that did all the work.

In the average household, In the common bathroom, you will find the old work horse type plunger. You know the one. It has a yellow wooden handle and a limp, red, rubber plunger head on it. Yes. It is just like the one you have in your bathroom.

Have you ever given that toilet plunger a second thought? I dought it. I know that I never did. Then a friend of mine brought up a couple of issues about the plunger in my bathroom, that realy got me to think.

The first thing he pointed out to me was about the handle on the thing. It was maid out of wood. Very dry wood. And this wood has a very thin coat of paint on top of it. After a use or two, that paint starts to peal off, then do you know what happens? That's right, the wood starts to soak up all that nasty water from the toilet when you use it. "Yum"!

He also pointed out that cheap, porus, red rubber plunger head, isn't much better. It may not soak up as much of the nasty water like the wooden handle. But it does soak up some. And, as it is a "rough" type of rubber, stuff tends to stick to it.

Not to mention, after a few uses, and sitting around for a while, that rubber head wears out and doesn't function very well. Have you ever tried to plung a toilet and have the plunger head fold up and not come back down? It looks sort of like one of those kids who flip their eyelids inside out as a joke. But this is no joke. You have to pull the plunger back out and try to un-flip the head by useing the underside of the toilet bowl rim. When you do this, all you can do is hope that when it pops back into a useable shape, it doesn't fling any of that nasty toilet water back at you in the process.

What you need to do to avoid all this nastiness, is to get yourself a plunger that does the job, without all the nasty attributes of that cheap red headed toilet plunger.

That is why I use the Oxo Good Grips Plunger. It is a flush above the rest

It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it, eh? I like where we can camouflage that toilet bowl plunger. In the apartment I lived in last year, I tried the plunger on my bathroom sink! OH OH! The grossest stuff exploded on the mirror and down the front of me. So, what's the proper technique for a stuffed sink drain = no plunger?
