Toilet Seats: Which Style Suits Your Backside Best?

Ranked #3,911 in Home & Garden, #47,634 overall

Shape Your Toilet Seat to Your Butt!

Everyone uses toilet seats - both genders, all ages. They range from run of the mill to works of art that homeowners are proud to show off. Options in seats are various. There are different shapes of toilet seats designed to fit even the most discerning of butts.

Elongated toilet seats are those where the shape is stretched out longer than rounded ones. They come to a gentle taper at the end of the seat. They're made that way to fit the natural shape of the body when crouched in the sitting position.

Round toilet seats don't necessarily mean they're for people with a little more butt than others. They're rounded for comfort. The comfort they give users is due to the wide width of the shape that can handle any size trunk. If you're not sure which seat will give your butt the best bathroom break, give both types a trial run!

Padded

icanonlybejm says:

padded! and something fun cuz it's the big ugly elephant in the room, might as well dress it up.

cindy says:

padded

jim says:

Padded toilet seats are the best

scss says:

I have used padded toilet seats for decades! They are not expensive to replace when they get a bit deflated or cracked, so my butt votes for Padded Toilet seats!

Kimbesa says:

A little padding is a wonderful thing, even if you're already well endowed.

jooloo says:

Padded. My bones are getting old and brittle.

LinearChaos says:

I have enough of my own padding, but I appreciate a little more!

Hard

Arany says:

People: You have to get the seat to fit the toilet bowl, whether round or elongated, not your butt.

cffutah says:

used to the hard.

bejeezers says:

Padded toilet seats are a new one on me...

beckyf says:

Hard, for ease of cleaning

chester says:

Padded is for fatties

JanezKranjski says:

Hard are easier to clean

DM1 says:

my brand new Kohler seat sucks! its tapered- and feels like your falling in! Do they make FLAT ones to fit my new 300+ toilet that aint comfortable to sit on?

SherylP says:

I didn't even know you could get padded toilet streets

Steve says:

dannystaple says:

Not just hard, but wood - real wood. As long as it is good quality and not rough edges, its ideal.

foodandmore says:

Hard Seat. There are already enough extraneous gas pulses going on without the seat making its own noise! ;)

Soften the Blow to Your Butt With a Padded Toilet Seat

Get Even More Comfort With a Heated Toilet Seat

Brondell BR60-EW Breeza Warm Deodorizing Heated Toilet Seat Elongated, WhiteIf you're on one of the regular toilet seats for any length of time, you may have experienced the sensation of your butt going numb and your feet going to sleep. Then when you try to stand, you end up doing the newborn colt stagger.

Sometimes, it's nice to take a book or newspaper into the bathroom and shut out the rest of the world, but no one wants to end up putting their head through the drywall when they're done. Padded, soft toilet seats cushion your butt and make your visit a lot more pleasant.

You can even find heated toilet seats that are warm to keep your own buns toasty. The Brondell BR60-RW Breeza Warm Deodorizing Heated Toilet Seat makes that cool chill from other seats just an unfortunate memory.

And you know how there are sometimes those unpleasant odors? You use air freshener and all that does it make the room smell like someone went in a pine forest or a flower garden. This seat gets rid of those bathroom odors and helps the room to stay guest fresh.

Elongated!

cffutah says:

feels like the big suv ride.

chris says:

i am trying for an elongated bottom too

gailhess says:

We have elongated boring white in all three bathrooms. Maybe it is time for a fancy new one!

azpoppy says:

Hmm...hadn't really thought about it too much, but I guess I prefer the elongated models.

Squidoo-Freak says:

Elongated all the way! I don't even know why they ever invented the round toilet seats.

Karla says:

Elongated are much more comfortable!

Joy says:

Interesting topic, never thought much about toilet seats before. My choice would have to be elongated though, because that's what I'm use to.

IsobelDeSantis says:

I've never even seen a round one!

Janet says:

I prefer elongated both for style and comfort.

MariAnn says:

I like the look of elongated, but actually prefer to sit on the round.

dragonsix says:

Who would have figured a conversation about toilet seats? Elongated.

Gail47 says:

Elongated even look cooler than round, for some reason.

WhitleyWallace says:

Gotta have the elongation to avoid "frontal contact" with the rim!

pogul says:

Elongated - definitely!

SarraDonathan says:

Elongated hard seats.

Charles says:

This is interesting. Never knew that there was any difference between the Two. Personally I would go for teh rectangular ones I believe they are a fusion between elongated and round ones. But hey what do I know
Cheers

David says:

It's a guy thing.

extremepanicattacks says:

My hubby prefers elongated and since I do the cleaning in and around the toilet, I would have to say I prefer the elongated as well. Lol :)

KittyTeeTee says:

I prefer something a little long 'cause sometimes the spray goes further than expected. Also, something soft to hold onto would be glorious. Cushy elongated seats for me!

Kimbesa says:

The on that fits the rest of the throne! So presently it will be the elongated one.

Curt in Anaheim, CA says:

I prefer elongated institutional style because I am tall. I also like the seats that are raised an inch or two to make getting down and up easier. My understanding is that there is no current maker of electric bidets in the institutional style (i.e., open in the front).

Kimbesa says:

The properly installed seat that fits your porcelain throne is best, and since the one in the master bath here is long, I'll go that way. Never knew there were so many choices!

Bob says:

If you sit and think, then I think elongated fits best. And of course, natural wood is the material of choice for my precious butt.

Round!

foodandmore says:

Round at home. Traffic is targeted and controlled.

LKW31 says:

Ooh, I don't know the difference! I vote round because it sounds so much more comfy than elongated. Is elongated like a long pit to hover over?

WendyKrick says:

I vote for the round ones.

burgessvillian says:

I don't really have a preference. Mine are round though.

Janie says:

I must be a traditionalist, because I prefer round.

MindMart says:

I think I'd be in danger of falling in with elongated. I vote round.

Sydney4045 says:

Amazing. How can we humans take something as ordinary as a toilet sear and come up with so many options? We are a creative bunch! :-)

goodfinder says:

I prefer round! They're comfier (I'm just sure that's a word). I would guess it's more the guys that like the elongated style, cuz, you know they've got more...ahem...upfront stuff to deal with and they need somewhere to put it :)

clefty says:

Round all the way!

Barkely says:

We used to have a round seat, now we have an elongated seat, and I really hate it! I never knew there was such a difference until we switched.

Epiphany says:

I go for comfort! :)

Michael says:

As my aft beam broadens, I find that the elongated seats no longer conform to the curvature of my (Oh dear) derriere.

alinaspencil says:

Round! So I can use my fabric toilet seat covers. I refuse to turn back! No more cold toilet seat shock!

mllnsgrl says:

Oh, Geez.. I'm not even sure. I think it may be round, but not completely round. More like round-ish.

Whitepines says:

I'll go for round, but with three kids in the house, I'd rather find a self cleaning model of any shape...

Judit Paton says:

i like round the one and silent one. Great lens, 5*, and a book shelf would be great, if there any designer thought of this.

says:

I've always thought those elongated ones were just weird.

writertiff says:

I actually had no idea what types of toilet seats we had until I went to double check. It turns out our butts have a wide variety of tastes: In the man cave (ie: the hubby's den), he has a wooden elongated toilet seat with no cover. In the main bathroom we have a white round acrylic toilet seat with a fuzzy black cover to match the decor. In the bedroom's bathroom we have a white round acrylic toilet seat with no cover. I remember my dad having a soft one but once it got torn, it always pinched my butt when I sat down, so I prefer hard toilet seats to soft ones.
