Reasons Why Lonely Planet's Best Ever Travel Tips Book Is A Great Resource

This book will give you simple pointers for:

  • Packing and preparing for your trip.
  • Money issues.
  • Health concerns.
  • Safety and security issues.
  • Air and ground transportation hints.
  • Hotel tips.
  • Technology ideas.
  • Ways to make the most of your trip.
  • Ways to travel in an eco-friendly manner.

HINT NUMBER 1:

BUY A BRIGHTLY COLORED SUITCASE OR ATTACH A COLORED RIBBON TO YOUR SUITCASE.

This is a basic travel tip, one that seasoned travellers may know. It is obvious but something you might not think about until it is too late. If you are buying a new piece of luggage, buy a brightly colored piece or alternatively, attach something to your suitcase that will make it stand out.

The last trip I took required the purchase of an easy to maneuver suitcase and I chose Eagle Creek luggage's Swerve 32. I chose it in this very attractive but more importantly, very bold green color. My son chose it in black. Guess which one we found easily in the sea of black suitcases as we disembarked from our cruise?

HINT NUMBER 2:

DON'T TAKE ANYTHING TO THE BEACH THAT YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO LOSE

Aquapac CaseI have struggled with this before. Going to the beach, setting up a spot as a 'home base' and then wanting to go for a swim but who is going to watch our stuff? Common sense says that anything left alone on the beach might disappear so the recommendation from Lonely Planet's travel tip book is not to take anything to the beach that you would not want to lose AND to carry an Aquapac for your keys, money, identification, camera and/or cellphone. They will keep a few important things safe and dry. If you are carrying a cellphone or camera, there's even an Aquapac for that purpose.

Travelling on a Cruise?

Here's another little travel tips book. The Essential Little Cruise Book is packed with expert advice.

The Essential Little Cruise BookI love this little book. It provides plenty of hints that will be relevant to ANY cruise vacation. It also provides a wonderful list of top 10 recommended shore excursions and do-not-miss sights for cruise tours in each of the different geographical areas that people cruise in. It won't replace a big cruise guide but it is extremely practical for providing hints about onboard life and at under $10, it is quite affordable. It offers insight into how to handle different situations on a cruise ship that you do not find in other cruise books.
