Best Twin Baby Shower Gifts

Know someone having twins and now you're trying to figure out what on earth would be the best twin baby shower gifts to get for her? As a mother of twins myself I know firsthand that she will be needing 2 of practically everything! This can be a little overwhelming for someone who is trying to figure out how to shop for this special occasion, so I'm going to make some suggestions that will hopefully help.

Luckily there are many good baby products and accessories that have already been made specifically for twins, but then there are other items that will have to be purchased separately to make a pair.

When you're shopping for twin baby shower gifts, it's a great idea to team up with either another friend of the expectant mom, or another member of the family so that for the items she needs 2 of, you can each buy one so she'll be sure to have the pair she needs.

Some of these items are obviously things the new mom of twins will absolutely have to have 2 of, and some of the others are extras that would really just help to make her new life with twins easier!

One person shouldn't necessarily feel that they are obligated to buy 2 gifts for the new mother of twins, and realistically, not everyone can afford to do that anyways, so keep in mind that even a multi-pack of onesies, receiving blankets, burp cloths and those sort of necessities will be greatly appreciated by her, as she will be needing a lot! There are also plenty of items that she will just need 1 of, like a bath tub, play yard, baby monitor, nursing accessories, etc.

On the other hand, going in together with a relative or friend to get 2 of what she does need a pair of, or to share the cost of one of the more expensive single items is a great way to make sure she will have what she'll need without spending double the money yourself!

Twin Baby Shower Gift Ideas

The Essentials

She absolutely needs these so they make great twin baby shower gifts!

  • 2 car seats

  • 2 cribs (at some point - 2 bassinets can carry her through for a while)

  • 2 high chairs

  • double stroller

  • large enough play yard for 2 babies

  • 2 swings (not necessarily an "essential", but a real sanity saver!)

  • 2 baby walkers (again, not necessarily an "essential", but very helpful for Mom and good for baby too!)

  • diaper bag (a LARGE one - I sometimes used a big beach bag instead to fit everything I needed to take!)

  •

And all of these she will need DOUBLE of!

  • clothes - onesies, t shirts, socks, hats, etc.

  • burping cloths

  • baby toys, teething rings, etc.

Guide to Raising Twins

A great idea for a gift that won't break the bank is a book called "Raising Twins, From Pregnancy to Preschool - Advice from a Pediatrician Mom of Twins" written by and for a mother of twins, Shelly Vaziri Flais M.D. F.A.A.P.

There are 8 packed chapters, along with an introduction and 3 appendixes full of additional useful info such as "Facts Every Parent of Twins Should Know".

The chapters include:

  • Preparing For Your Twins' Arrival

  • The Early Days and Weeks

  • Early Infancy and Getting On a Schedule

  • Older Infancy and First Birthday

  • The Toddler Years (1- and 2-Year Olds)

  • The Preschool Years (3- and 4- Year Olds)

  • The Early Years End - As Your Twins Grow

Each chapter delves into multiple topics and issues for that particular age range specified - from getting the babies on a schedule to sleep issues to potty training and a whole lot more.

For a reasonably priced gift this book is an invaluable resource for the expectant Mom, as a guide to help prepare her ahead of time, and then after the babies are born to help her in dealing with the common issues that are sure to arise.

Everything on here is so cute! A friend of mine had twins first before she had her other kids so there were no hand me downs! It was amazing how much she needed for 2 babies all at once.. Thank God for her family and friends that helped her out! Great ideas here!

I have twin nephews and there were so many things my brother and his wife had to buy in pairs. While you can get away without a baby monitor if you have one baby, you really find it comes in handy with two because while you're doing something with one of the babies you need a second set of eyes watching the other. Two jumper or bouncy toys were a must, too. They were so fun as babies but such a handful! Great choices here!
