Stainless cookware setShould I be using metal, or silicone utensils on my stainless cookware?

Stainless Cookware is the way to go, stop using your teflon and aluminium cookware.

With Teflon kitchen appliances cookware one of the biggest risks is flaking followed closely by the other risk of harmful fumes being emitted when non-stick pans are heated to high temperatures, they can emit harmful polymer fumes. Most definitely if the pan is scratched or chipped, it's time to let it go - no matter how much of a miser you pride yourself in being as tiny amounts of inert plastic and leached aluminium cling to cooked food. When you are ready to replace your Teflon pans with safer versions of kitchen appliances cookware, such as a stainless cookware, know that recycling is possible! Locate a metal recycling business-these pans are categorized as "dirty aluminum" which pays out less than aluminum, but at least the material is recycled.

Stainless cookware needs a small amount of cooking liquid (e.g. oil, butter) to help prevent the food you are cooking sticking to the bottom of the pan. Stainless cookware was not designed to "dry" cook food. Food will stick to any unoiled or unbuttered surface in stainless cookware so you may have to rethink your ideas on cooking ~ not huge amounts just a thin coating. Keep the food moving and learn to cook on at a slightly lower temperature because often using a higher heat will tend to make the food stick. You can deglaze the stainless cookware if you find some small amounts of food sticking to the bottom. Deglazing the stainless cookware pan means adding a tiny bit of liquid to the pan after you have taken the food out ~ liquid includes water, wine, tomato juice, beer depending on the food being cooked and it makes the most flavorsome sauce.

Personally I would go with silicone utensils in any kitchen appliances cookware. They are designed to stand higher temperatures that metal. If you use metal, you risk a chance of scoring the surface of your stainless steel cookware set making little scratches over time and once again increase the risk of contaminating your stainless cookware. Silicon utensils are made in a variety of colors to suit any kitchen and kitchen appliances cookware.

I've had and used my stainless steel cookware for 40 years and love it. I could use some of these silicone kitchen tools. I really like that tangerine spatula! (Welcome to Squidoo!)
