Tired of v8 mustang owners talking smack?

Learn about upgrades for your v6 Mustang, and how you can show them v8 owners whats going on with the v6's. Lets make them watch their back because where there's more engine space, there's horse power gain opportunity!

Most simple engine upgrade

Cold Air Induction (cold air intake) C.A.I

My intake system featured on AmericanMuscle.comThe easiest upgrade to start out with is an Cold Air Induction System. They are fairly inexpensive starting out at $50, with a decent gain for your money ranging from 6-14 horse power. In my opinion when it comes to Cold air Intakes, brands really don't matter unless you want their cool logo on the tubing of your intake. When it comes to material of tubing for your system I recommend plastic, although less durable than aluminum, it retains less heat than aluminum, putting less stress on your engine giving you colder air faster equalling more horse power.

Thinking Of An Exhaust Upgrade?

Good thinking, some systems can add up to 17 Horse Power!

My True-Dual Exhaust

I own a 2004 Mustang v6 5-Speed and from months and months of research and watching videos on youtube.com I have learned the dos and don'ts and would like to share them with you. Whether you're looking for a deep throaty sound or a mild exotic humm at higher rpms, you have options.

The 2004 Mustang v6 is an even firing engine meaning you don't need a mid-pipe to equal the flow coming out of your tail pipes. With that being said, I got a custom exhaust down at a local shop for $387.00 which isn't too bad consisting of the work done. I had my Y-pipe cut to convert my single exhaust to dual exhaust, than I had two flowmaster original 40's welded in. After the mufflers, the exhaust shop welded in two custom tail-pipes running over my rear axel, than welded on two 18 inch long, by 3 inch round stainless steel tips.

The sound coming from my exhaust system is not too deep and throaty but it's enough to turn a few heads and sounds exotic in higher rpms.
Under this text module I will post a video of my exhaust system 2 days after installation, and just to make mention an exhaust system takes about a year to fully break in and give its true tone.

If you're looking for a more tuner exotic sound then I'd recommend going with a nice set of magnaflows. You can purchase an exhaust system for $500-$700. They are a bit more expensive than other systems but it's all in what sound you prefer.

Now for the deepest tone possible on the v6 without major engine modifications, I'd suggest going with true dual exhaust and adding slp loud mouth mufflers. A lot of people may say that they sound horrible on the v6 and 90% who say that are v8 owners!!! They don't want your car to measure up to theirs at all.

There are two options when selecting muffler housings:

Chambered mufflers, and straight through mufflers.

Inside a chambered muffler the piping bends creating two "U" turns before exiting out, creating more back pressure which creates more muffle rather than a wannnnp.

A straight through muffler is, well straight through. Which in return the muffler itself creates a tiny amount of back pressure and provides a higher pitched tone.

Wrapping up the information you just gathered, for a muscle tone go with flow masters or something along the lines of them. For an exotic more smooth tone go with some magnaflows or pypes dual exhaust.

My True Dual Flow Master exhaust, with a walk around

This exhaust set up cost $387.00. With just an intake and no other modifications it sounds pretty good in my opinion.
