Best Way to Learn German for Beginners

The first thing I'd like you to do is think of 12 words in English which you use everyday. It can be things like car, stove, take a shower, etc. Now grab yourself an English-German dictionary and look up these words in German. Write them down on a 3x5 card. (Be sure to put beside each noun either "der", "die" or "das"). These will be your words for the day to look at and learn. Do this every other day! Slowly but surely you'll build up a useful vocabulary of everyday words. It will be fun when you start using German words instead of English words in your everyday life. When the German words stop looking strange and start looking familiar, then you know you are making good progress.
