Hotel Rooms

Million dollar renovations were completed during the winter of 2008-2009, making the hotel rooms at the Gold Rush Inn some of the best found in any of the hotels in Whitehorse. The rooms are large and have various configurations to suit your needs, including one or two queen-size beds, business class rooms located on the top floor, suites with king-size beds and jacuzzi suites, and or jacuzzi suites with queen-size beds. If that were not enough, the hotel offers one or two bedroom suites with a full-size kitchen, something that is not found in any other hotel in Whitehorse.

For a good night's sleep, the bedrooms come furnished with a full-size mattress, making for a very comfortable sleep. The furnishings in the room are a modern style and pleasing to the eye. A large dresser that holds the television has plenty of storage for clothes if you are staying longer than a few nights, plus a large closet with hangers, and a luggage rack in the room. The television is a large flatscreen, with a microwave and mini-fridge nearby. A small table and several comfortable chairs to sit in are by the window, along with a large desk for work and a leather office chair. The bathrooms are very stylish with a modern sink, a full-size shower and tub.

On the top floor, there are business class rooms which have either one queen or one king-size bed. The rooms are more spacious than the other rooms, because they only have the one bed, making it much more comfortable to move around in. All the rooms on the top floor come equipped with air-conditioning units, as well. While not normally needed in the north, there are the rare occasions when the rooms become quite warm and need the extra cooling factor. The top floor is also the quietest area of the hotel, because there is very little foot traffic through the corridors.

All hotel rooms have access to an ethernet connection or wireless connection for internet access, both of which are painless to setup and quite fast. Additionally, access is completely free for guests to use.

The Gold Pan Saloon

Good food; Great atmosphere

Can Can Dancers Whooping It Up!"A bunch of the boys were whooping it up in the Malamute saloon;
The kid that handles the music-box was hitting a rag-time tune;"

Robert Service wrote those lines in his story, "The Shooting of Dan McGrew," during the turn of the 20th century, but he easily could have been describing the Gold Pan Saloon in the Best Western Gold Rush Inn. Located just off the main lobby, the Gold Pan Saloon hosts breakfast in the morning, and changes over into a lounge after 11 in the morning.

The rustic atmosphere offers a true northern experience for visitors. It has a massive sit-around bar, one of the last standing ones in Whitehorse, if not the Yukon. Sitting around the bar, you will be able to hear countless stories from the bartenders or the locals who crowd the bar during happy hour each day. This is one of the best places to sit and people watch if you are looking to experience some of the Yukon's Colourful Five Percent.

The menu offers the standard pub fare - but with exceptional quality and flavours. Their burgers and pizza are one of the must-try items on the menu. Plus, there are daily specials that are constantly changing in variety. The bar has plenty of beers on tap, including Guiness, plus a variety of local brewed beers that have garned numerous awards - courtesy of the Yukon Brewing Company. The Gold Pan Saloon also offers live music from Thursday to Saturday night, usually a mix of local bands, but they do bring in some talent from other parts of Canada. The hotel rooms above the bar are generally closed off during these nights, so do not worry about not sleeping on the weekend.
