Wii Games for Girls Ages 6, 7, and 8
This list of best Wii Games for Girls is a little different, as the games on it were chosen by my eight-year-old, based on the games she's loved best since we started buying Wii games for her (age five). You'll find my observations and reviews to go with her picks, as well.
The Nintendo Wii is loved for its accessibility for gamers of all ages, even the very youngest. We had many games to choose from, and more are coming out all the time. I've added a section for brand new 2010 games that she has put on her wishlist, too.

Now, without further ado, my daughter's picks for Top 5 Wii games for girls:
Her Favorite Wii Game:
World of Zoo ~ Up to 4 players
Kids choose their favorite of the zoo animals to start their zoo, and jump right into playing with the animals. In multiplayer mode, the additional players are helping the "Player 1" by playing with and caring for the animals.
No reading help is needed. Whatever the animal wants appears in a thought-bubble over their head. Clicking the thought-bubble makes that item drop down in front of the animal. So even the youngest players can have fun interacting with the animals and caring for them.
Gameplay is intricate and interesting enough for adults and older kids, but it's also easy enough even for my 2 1/2 year old. The play scales perfectly, and the game saves automatically.
My daughter says: "It's fun, and everyone can play. You can pick whatever animal you want to: monkeys, cats, even the penguins."

# 2 - Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey
1 - 2 Player Co-operative
This is a simple role playing adventure, in which your child gets to create her own princess and play the part. Favorite Disney Princesses need her help to restore their kingdoms. While there are enemies to be fought, there is no killing - your little princess simply uses her magic wand to turn the enemies into butterflies.
No reading help needed, she just needed a little bit of help figuring out how to create her princess in the beginning. Otherwise, she did it all on her own.

Amazon Price: $14.98 (as of 05/29/2012)![]()
My daughter says: "You get to choose what your character looks like. You can help the Princesses. There are lots of worlds, even a bonus world when you've done everything. You have to beat an evil queen."

#3 - SimAnimals
1-4 Players
In SimAnimals, the player is represented in the game by a hand, with which they can pet or pick up animals and tend a garden or forest. Additional players receive hands of their own, and are able to do all the same things.
It's a very open game, allowing even very young children to have fun with it, ignoring the goals to play with the animals and the forest.
My daughter needed a little reading help, figuring out the goals, but spent many more happy hours on her own in open-ended play.
SimAnimals
Amazon Price: $12.99 (as of 05/30/2012)![]()
My daughter says: "There are lots of different kinds of animals, even baby animals. You can feed them, and grow plants. It's easy enough for everybody."

#4 - SimAnimals Africa
1 player
Although this is the second game in the SimAnimals set, they are very different games. The cute humor is still here, but play is slightly less open. There's a stronger focus on goals.
Players have disembodied hands again, but also can actually choose to play as an animal to control their movements.
She did need some reading help with this one.
SimAnimals Africa
Amazon Price: $7.35 (as of 05/30/2012)![]()
My daughter says: "There are lions, gorillas, and other animals. You begin with zebras. The gorillas are at the end."

#5 - Littlest Pet Shop
This game has all the cuteness of the Littlest Pet Shop toys, complete with dress up. Mini games played with their pets earn the coins needed to buy more train tickets for new pets to come to the area.
She needed A LOT of reading help in the beginning, to figure out the goals required to unlock additional pets and areas. Once everything was unlocked, she was able to play completely on her own.
Littlest Pet Shop
Amazon Price: $35.98 (as of 05/30/2012)![]()
My daughter says: "There are lots of cute animals and games to play."
