Yahweh: God is 1 in 3 - God, Jesus, Holy Spirit

The Jewish people are God's Chosen. Although a gentile, the Bible tells me I have been grafted into the family of God because I have believed on Jesus. Why do I say Believed on Jesus instead of Believed in Jesus? Because the Bible records that the Devil believes in God/Jesus and trembles. The difference is that the Devil wants to be God and he will not accept what Jesus did on the cross as a redemption for sin. Sometimes I act like I want to be God, and when I do I have to ask God's pardon. God grants the pardon because Jesus loves me and I love him. I accept what he did on the Cross to atone for my sin. He is my Adoni, my Master.

The Jews call God Yahweh but often refuse to speak His name lest they speak it in vain. One of the Ten Commandments tells us not to take the name of the Lord our God in vain. We should revere his name. Profanity often takes the name of God in a disrespectful or vain way. God sent his son, Jesus, to come to earth and walk among men. Many men and women in that day accepted him as God's son but many refused to accept Him.  He was captured, given an unfair trial and put to death but God raised him back to life on the third day. He is currently sitting at God's right hand in heaven. I believe that God is still seeking people to come to know Him through acceptance of his son Jesus and what he did on the cross. God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes on Him shall not perish but shall have Eternal Life. John 3:16

The image of Jesus on the left is what one artist thought He looked like. Jesus said, If You Have Seen Me, You have Seen the Father. In one sense, this means that Jesus and God have the same purpose and mission. But no one cannot look upon God because of His holiness, God explained this to Moses when He gave him the Ten Commandments. Jesus walked on this earth 2009 years ago and he was born to a Jewish mother so he would have looked like Jewish men of that day. Image from allposters.com 969796

Yahweh - God's Name

Taken from Wikipedia

type=textYahweh is the English rendering of YHWH, a Hebrew vocalization of the Tetragrammaton that was proposed by the Hebrew scholar Wilhelm Gesenius in the 19th century. English Bibles use the spelling Yahweh in the Old Testament. This rendering, as with many religious and scholarly issues, remains the subject of ongoing debate. The start of the name Yahweh... Yah remains widely accepted but disagreements continue on the ending weh.
According to the Bible, Yahweh is the personal name of the one true God who delivered Israel from Egypt and gave the Ten Commandments, Then God spoke all these words. He said, I am Yahweh your God who brought you out of Egypt, where you lived as slaves. You shall have no other gods to rival me. Yahweh revealed himself to Israel as a jealous God who would not permit his people to make idols or follow gods of other nations or worship gods known by other names, I am Yahweh, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, or my praise to idols. Yahweh demanded the role of the one true God in the hearts and minds of Israel, Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our God; Yahweh is one: and you shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. Names of God in Judaism

Taken from Wikipedia

type=textIn Judaism, the name of God is more than a distinguishing title. It represents the Jewish conception of the divine nature, and of the relation of God to the Jewish people. To show the sacredness of the names of God, and as a means of showing respect and reverence for them, the scribes of sacred texts took pause before copying them, and used terms of reverence so as to keep the true name of God concealed. The various names of God in Judaism represent God as he is known, as well as the divine aspects which are attributed to him.

The numerous names of God have been a source of debate amongst biblical scholars. Some have advanced the variety as proof that the Torah has many authors. It is also held that the only name of God in the Tanakh is Yahweh the English rendering of YHWH, whereas words such as Elohim -God, El -mighty one, El Shaddai -almighty God, Adonai -master, El Elyon -most high God, Avinu -our Father, etc. are not names, but titles, highlighting different aspects of YHWH, and the various roles which He has. This is similar to how a man may be called by his name, or by dad, husband, boss, sir, son etc, but his personal name is the only one that can be correctly identified as his name. In the Tanakh, YHWH is the personal name of the God of Israel, whereas the other words are titles which are ascribed to Him. Image available at allposters.com 925507

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. John 1:12

Yes! I realize God cares for me in different ways just as my earthly father did.

No. I believe it is wrong to call God anything but God.
