- I have not heard of Launchy before... it sounds pretty cool I will check it out and I might add it to my lens...
I prefer Paint.net or Gimp because it was really easy UI... gimp really confused me when I first opened it up but Paint.net is really professional and powerful!

I am also into free software. I have a couple of suggestions - first, try out 7zip - it is my current choice of archiver/compression tool.
Not heard of RocketDock, but have you tried out Launchy. Launchy is a keystroke and index based app launcher - very cool.
I will give Avira a go, although I am more familiar with Clamwin (totally free) and AVG(somewhat free).
How does paint.net compare with Gimp? I am going to have to play with Pivot Stickfigure. If I could import into Inkscape (another tool you should check out), I could perhaps use it with a more detailed figure.
Some of those tools like Filezilla, Firefox and pidgin are in my top drawer - although I use them all with Portable Apps - which runs your favourite free software on a portable drive, keeping its settings there.
